I will be sure to report back. Hoping it happens soonish. Sounds like the reps have samples now for shops to order next year, or maybe late this season.

I can’t wait to ditch the heavy ntn boots.

Damn that’s some potentially good news. If I had a dollar for every time a scarpa rep has ‘held the boot in my hands’ and said ‘available next season for sure’ I’d be rich. It’s become a sick joke really, like the ‘2 weeks’ joke in the bike industry.

So I ended calling telemarkdowns.com. I've looked at their site before, but I called last week and talked to Erik. He listened to my plight- 57 yo telemarker. Likes 75mm and fat skis. Sorta NTN curious, but not really wanting to go there. Talked to him for about 15 minutes and he recommended a set-up he thought would be good for me. I just said the hell with it, I don't really want to be on a wild goose chase for gear, so I ended up ordering a ski they make, the Summit Cone Exile. I had Axl's put on them and also ordered Crispi XR's. He said everyone that buys the XR's raves about them.

So I'll report back after I ski the set-up a few times. I'll either be stoked or have some gear for sale.[emoji3]
That will be sweet to be on all fresh gear like that.
    Enjoy!

    Telemark skiing is dead.

Anyone need a 22 Designs Vice toe box? It’s new - I’m really good at breaking bindings so had this as a backup. I’m on NTN now (and still breaking bindings).

I don’t “need” one but will take it for the parts box if no one else wants it. Multiple AXLs on hand and assuming they are same part as the Vice build. Never bent or broke a toe box before!

When scarpa comes out with their new boot I'll switch to NTN.

I held “the boot” in my hands today….red & black, 3 buckle, 1400 grams a pair, ntn with front tech fittings. Looks a lot like the old TX (orange 3 buckle) but it is a new last. TBH, I was hoping for a little lighter, but I will get a pair when they are available.

Risky? No, with Rax ski you`ve got a fin, rudder and brake just under your heel

I don't think you fully grasp the telemark concept. It's dangerous enough on its own.

Thanks for the update. I assume you mean 1400g a boot, not for a pair. I think 2800g a pair is pretty good for a 3-buckle tele boot. My orange TX boots (size 28) weigh about 3500g a pair. My old T4s weigh about 2800g a pair.

Now, if you're referring to the weight of just the shell, then, yea, that's not much of an improvement. My TX shells (w/o power straps) weigh 1470g each.

That’s exactly what I was hoping for. Guessing you meant 1400g per boot? That weight would seem reasonable to me. About on par w/ my maestrales, lighter than my t2’s.

    Telemark skiing is dead.

Huh. The absolutely ancient Scarpa F3s with the tech fittings and bellows toe have pretty much the exact same weight. I’m wondering if this “new” Scarpa tele boot isn’t just the F3 with a duckbutt.

I have a pair of Defenders with some Intuition liners, that I use with TTS bindings, and I’m not sure I see the advantage of these “latest and greatest“ tele boots.

I’ll take a look at them and see…

I don't think I could step backwards to 3 buckles.

    Yup, a 1400/boot.

Very similar look to the old f3…and the tx. My buddy says its a new last, but maybe that is the line he is getting from Italy.

Walk mode is updated, but I didn’t have time to play with it.

I think a lot of people will be happy if the new boot is basically a redone F3 with more ROM for touring.

I'm on old Ener-g's (absolutely LOVE these boots) and Fischer Big Stix 106 (yes, the old yellow ones). I'm not a gear head and the current telemark ski landscape is confusing me. So Garmount boots are gone. It looked like Scott bought them out and made the 4 buckle like an Ener-g, but now there's only the 3 buckle Voodoo? Scarpa's didn't fit me as well, but that was 20 years ago, so I'd be willing to try them out.

I don't want to go ntn, I like the flex of my duckbills. I also love my skis.

I'm in a ski shop desert. I'm three hours from Tahoe. I will be in SLT over thanksgiving, so if anyone knows a good shop I can get fitted while there, I'd definitely check that out.
I prowl facebook marketplace for Ener-Gs and Scott Synergys because they fit so well! I have a bunch stashed in various places now. Will probably get back into NTN when (if?) Scarpa drops the new boot. In the meantime, it's all Garmont and Scott. Just don't try the Voodoo; it sucks and is way too narrow.

Exactly. The F3 and OG TX’s were basically a T2, which was the most popular plastic tele boot. Makes sense to start there.

Laps, what size boot was it? Assuming it’s 27.5/28, then it’s over 400 g per pair heavier than my Skorpius II….which is much stiffer and higher performance than the old orange F3. Or TX Comp. IME the TX Comp is barely stiff enough to work as a deep pow touring boot, so I really hope the Scarpa Unicorn is almost as tall as the comp (ie. Not a short cuff like the F3) and stiffer than the Comp.

Respectfully, I don't think you are part of the target user group for the new Scarpa tele boot. Most of us don't want a boot stiffer than the TX Comp for touring, even if it has better ROM. You'd be better off hoping that Crispi comes out with a new Evo World Cup with better ROM, and it will still weigh a lot more than the Skorpius.
