As a feeble boomer groomer zoomer, I've been steadily condensing down towards burlier, narrow-wasted skis (mostly Stocklis). This year I finally threw caution to the wind and mounted up some SL and GS boards. Definitely a small market, but .... all the WC racers can't be on fat brakes, right?
edit: upon further scrutiny, it would seem that the WC free heel racers do not use brakes at all, so maybe ..... I am the market. Looks like there are leashes in my immediate future, as I have had several recent, mysterious edge releases in the heart of a turn, always the inside ski.

I skied today for a few hours until my toe hurt too much.
So I just did the liner surgery. Liner is upside down in the pic.
On the couch it feels a little better. We shall see tomorrow how it is on the snow.
I did stop at the local "tele shop" and he showed me Scott and scarpa ntn boots and they didn't feel any better than what I have fit-wise.
They have demos so might try that tomorrow...
Thanks for the tip![]()

I’m not sure about the scott ntn boots, but the scarpa ntn boots very likely had unbaked intuition liners in them and they’ll need to be baked to fit properly. Just a heads-up….
well
hellz yeah
I didn't believe in reincarnation when I was your age either.
This week I demoed an NTN setup. Scott voodoo boots and rottafella freeride bindings. So much better than hammerheads, I loved it. It is more like alpine so I understand why people don't care for it. But I do.
I am getting the boots and some new outlaw x mounted to my skis right now. He didn't want to sell the demo skis.
Big expense for me but the price was good and I am psyched to keep progressing.
I will have to list my 75mm stuff to cover some of the cost... Hopefully it all works out.
Last afternoon on the hammerheads while they mount the skis...

Fun times ahead as you get more comfortable and discover NTNs strengths and weaknesses.
How did those TX Comps fit?
I spent today on tele and saw 3 other guys and one gal doing the same. So yeah, still dead.
When I picked up my new tele setup a young woman came in. She was dropping her skis. Pull the shifts and mount new outlaws, please.
That's hot.

Found this in the middle of a run today with nobody around looking to claim it. How far can you get on one tele ski?

That is hysterical. It's kinda surprising that it's a Hammerhead vs. a 4-hole mount like a Targa or older BD O1 -- I suspect it was a bad mount. Regardless, there is probably one less tele skier in the world, and tele is one day closer to death...
P.S. cstefanic, I might be interested in the binding if you'll send it for the price of shipping. I still have a couple pairs of skis with Hammerheads on them, and it would be good to have some back-up parts, just in case.
Wow, four other people?!? Out of how many other skiers? Did you take their pulse? Were they actually alive?
I tele'd yesterday and saw two other skiers with tele gear. But I never saw them make tele turns: one was in the lift line, and the other was futzing with his bindings.
I have an acquaintance who ripped out HH's, but then he's broken every tele binding he's tried. He's big and aggressive, and he's not that great a skier (not implying that is the case with you).
But it doesn't make sense that you ripped out a HH, but don't have problems with Axls. Same mounting pattern, same leverage, etc. I have skied both HH and Axl for years and haven't had a problem with either -- what do you attribute your problem with HH to (vs Axl)?
Luck? I don’t know. I did on 2-3 occasions break those plastic pieces that are intended to hold the cables in place and adjust tension. They just would crack. AXLs fixed that design flaw. I also ripped a coil out of a heal tube at the top of a backcountry run with 2’ of pow. Was a heart breaker having limp out of that one. Voile strap to the rescue. I did crack a AXL heel tube and have broken a couple of AXL heel throws but, in general, their failures are rare and I feel like HHs were a rotation of fail. I struggled w/ O1s and Bombers too (perhaps worse than HHs). Ever since I (now) always take 2 set ups to the mountain I’ve yet to have a binding fail. Only a matter if of time tho!
