    Best cell phone?

My POS Motorola flip phone just died, it won't turn on and it won't charge. The previous one the antenna broke off. The Nokia I had before that sucked.

I guess I should go to Consumer Reports, but I don't have a membership. So, what is a bomber cellie? All I want is durability, good battery life and decent reception. Ability to answer it with gloves on is a plus. Don't care about cameras, games, any extra shit like that.

    Thanks.

heh, that actually looks like a sorta cool phone, but I don't think it will fit in my jacket pocket too well.

    Ice,

What service are you using? I used to be in the business and can help, just got deaf mom and gaper dad set up on cell phones that do what they need too, and got em a freaking awesome price.

PM me with details and I can shop for ya. We get some kind of consumer reports here, like a mobile planet or wireless something or other.

Sound like you had the Moto V60 flip, as I had all the same problems as you described.

i had my motorola star-tac for 4 years....dropped it alot from heights of like 10 feet....got reception in subway tunnels and long car tunnes....worked in all basements....

totally outperformed all my friends new 300 dollar phones and mine was like 30 bucks...buy one online...

but then i lost it in the snow, so now i have a samsung...works good, but not as well as my old bomber star-tac

Then I have no information to offer you. I'm a full-on cell phone gizmo geek. The more crap the better. My ideal phone would include camera, mp3 player, email client, web browser and prostate massager. If it can make phone calls too... that's a bonus.
I'm flying to London tomorrow to kick Roo's ass and take his Nokia 6630.

Buzz, I had AT&T, but my contract's up, I can do whatever. My wife's on Verizon, I guess that would be one less bill to pay if I went that way, but it doesn't really matter.

If you go Verizon, you get In-Call network minutes. Basically you can call anyone else on Verizon for FREE ANYTIME!!!

Mom, dad, brother, brothers wife, Me, Mrs. Buzz, 2P, Mrs. 2P, Flykdog, Lumpy, AC, Logan Andy, Telephil, ...................... lots of maggots and friends all on Verizon and I can call for free anytime anywhere!!!

Would make it easier to go to same carrier.

Need info on what plan you need, minute usage.... I was on a 800 minute plan without IN Call and now that I have IN Call, I am down to the 400 minute plan, 39.99.

Getting links to plans and phones that would be good.

Phones: If I were to pick, I would go with the MOTO, parents just got the Samsung and it is loud, speakerphone, voicedial and they all have picture shit anymore for a decent phone :

Buzz, I hardly use the thing. I'm home most of the time, the cell stays turned off for days at a time (which is why calls don't get returned promptly as Woodsy and Jared can attest). 400 minutes a month would be plenty fer shur. Maybe I can piggyback on my wife's contract somehow....?

    I know nothing.

Yes, you can do an add a phone to her account and you share minutes. It is the Family Share accounts, again, what my parents have.

    Getting plans.

Find out what she uses, get one plan up and you are set, go two year agreemtent to get better price on phone, 2 years is up quick, and I used to work for Verizon so if you ever have something screwed up, let me know and I will give you the tricks to fix it.

Heading home, pm me or post up and I will check back.

Just my experience, but I switched from Verizon to AT&T. In the area of SF I live in, Verizon gets shit to no coverage while AT&T works really well. I also like the Nokia 3100 I have now way better than the POS goddamn 20 minute battery Motorola Flip phone (the first color one they ever made) I had on verizon. that piece of shit could not have been worse

That's interesting Seldon, I did the opposite and never regretted it. With Verizon in Tahoe, I get coverage EVERYWHERE. I even got coverage 5 minutes out of Black Rock City in Gerlach, NV. Other places I can vouch for include 90% of the Big Island, All of O`ahu, Most of Lana`i and Maui, Pittsburgh, All of SFO and places in between it and Tahoe, Whistler, Portland and Seattle, and Most of I5, oh yeah, and Mt. Shasta as well. Sucked at Bachelor, but who the hell wants to ski there on purpose anyway?

Ice - I just bought the cheapest Verizon, $179 with no contract renewal, no camera, basically a brick that takes and makes calls. If you're interested, I can get the model #, it's a Nokia, though...

I have a Motorola 120e that works with Verizon, anybody can have it if they pay for the shipping. It works fine but Ij ust got a credit for a free phone I'm going to use.

It has GPS on it so rescue people can find you in the backcountry, which is cool. That feature doesn't work everywhere though.

Just to make things even more confusing, T-Mobile works best at mammoth. I have friends with sprint and at&t that needed to borrow my cell phone because they got no reception.

LG's are decent, but they get shitty reception. My Sony Ericson T616 gets outrageous reception, compared to other people with the same service and different phones. If you're going to go with AT&T/Cingular, sign up with Cingular, as every single person who answers the phone at AT&T must have had Advanced Asshole Training.

T-Mobile is usually cheapest and won awards for both customer service and coverage this year. They'll only hold you hostage for a year. Plus, since you do go overseas from time to time, a t-mobile phone will work everywhere without mods or bs because it is GSM.

If I worked for T-Mobile, I couldn't tell you so. However, regardless of where I work, I am telling the truth.
