    Arc'teryx Sidewinder AR Jacket

Just curious if anyone has used this jacket and what you think of it. I love the way it looks, but for some reason cant get myself to pay that much for a jacket. Just want to hear some opinions on it.

paying $450 for a jacket is just stupid. you can get last year's sidewinder softshell or a javelin goretex for less than half that at sierra trading post.

Saw 2 college kids in Somerville MA a couple months ago wearing arcteryx shit.

    Made me wanna stab them.

    They were also being "fashionable".

I'll go ahead and call myself out as a college kid wearing Arc'teryx shit, but I also roll with a gat so it's cool.

You, nor anyone, should pay retail for the stuff. In regards to paying $$$ for the jackets, it's definitely more of an investment- the stuff lasts, and they have very strong warranties in case something happens.

I've got the Sidewinder SV. main difference is the back of the SV has a stretchy material and dedicated hood. Obviously the AR is a sick jacket...don't rule out softshells, though. As stated, check out the Patriot, Gamma mx, etc. But for a hardshell...well, I love mine. Just don't kill me.

I bought the Gamma SV softshell the other month, and I couldnt find it on sale anywhere! That really pissed me off. But it is a sweet jacket!

I dont see what age has to do with owning quality equipment. I mean, I'd rather pay alot more for something that wont let me freeze than freeze, and save some cash. Not to mention the fact that it will last a lot longer.
