This won't help, but I've had faster and shorter trips on both.

IMO, if you avoid traffic, I-70 is faster. But with the interstate going down to one lane just before Glenwood Springs, I'd imagine that will tie things up pretty good.

    I'd go the back way.

PM foggy, he's done the drive a bunch, I forget which way he takes

also, I won't be making it, won't be back to Denver until tomorrow, but I know strandman is looking for rideshare down from D-town, he's one of the FOBP (friends of berthoud pass) founders, great guy, occassional poster here... I have his number somewhere, I think, if you want to get in touch...

Have fun down there, and gimme a buzz when you're back to get the camera over to me so I can take it LA on Tuesday and get it to some Mammoth peeps.

Done it both ways -- it is totally weather and traffic dependant. 285 is a nicer drive. If you are hauling ass (85+) I-70 to Junction is fastest. Remember Glenwood Canyon is all f-ed. Oh, 285 throught Montrose not Durango obviously.

285 is consistently 20 minutes faster. It'll be even faster with the Glenwood fiasco. Just watchout for Deer....especially between Montrose and Ridgway.

It's Hwy 50 from Poncha Springs onward, not 285.
