I'm going to Baker. What radio channel? I forget. Hope to see some of you there.

Don't look at the forecast for late next week.

When you get established out here funken, you'll realize that they can't even half-ass predict more than 3 days out. The forecast for this week was crazy high freezing levels towards Wednesday and Thursday of this week, and its been changed to moderate to decently big snowfall. How about this gem from today's (Sunday) weather forecast for tomorrow (Monday) from NWAC --

"An active, varied and difficult to predict weather pattern is
indicated for Monday. Increasing southwest flow should carry
another weakening front to the Northwest Monday morning. Offshore
surface flow should initially help limit the increasing mountain
snowfall. Further increasing and slightly warmer southwest flow
is indicated to carry a complex of deep surface low pressure
centers over the Northwest later Monday and Tuesday morning. This
should cause increasing snow at sites in the Olympics and
    Cascades."

So essentially they can't decide what its going to do TOMORROW -- Surface flow will limit increasing mountain snowfall, yet it should still cause increasing snow? WTF?
    OOOOOOOHHHH, I'm the Juggernaut, bitch!

Same deal here in CO... I'm sure the accuracy of forecasts here is comparable to the PNW. I usually, look at the most general trends for long range forecasts, but I know even those aren't right most of the time.

goddamn Bachelor forecast was for 6"-9" on Saturday, with continued fugliness sundaay and through the week

    Saturday - fukkin' nada.
    Sunday - 2 measly inches.
Monday 5 a.m. - 2 inches in town and 3 on the hill, still snowing.

    I need POW damnit!

    WA looking better

Q13 Fox News says about 16"-20" for Stevens Pass by Wednesday and 12"-20" for Snoqualmie. Keep drinking "Mountain Approved Beer" this week.
It worked for our weekend at Baker.

    And summary update for Seattle:
A wet week ahead for us, with juicy systems lined up one after the other. Today will be rainy with a few moments of dryness in between. Mostly cloudy and showery on Tuesday. Wednesday looks like the stormiest day with rain and wind. Showers on Thursday. Rain on Friday. And the temperatures and snow levels rise throughout the week -- so will the ski resorts open this weekend? It remains to be seen. Updated Monday 6:24 a.m. Meteorologist M.J. McDermott

If they get the forecasted amount I'm sure they will open. Things are looking slightly better on the freezing level front, too.

From the snow reports Whistler is looking much improved in the last week.

Zeedash was up there yesterday - says another 2-3 feet to open. I think we'll be close this week to opening. Maybe Thursday or Friday if these storms produce and the freezing levels drop.

Keep thinking winter. The North Cascades looked amazing last night when we left Baker.

As far as I know, Baker is the only place where you can get over a foot of snow and not be excited to ski it. It was fine for the first few runs (except for the inbounds slabs on 8, Pan, and anything else steeper than a desk), but once it got a couple of tracks.... the "over it!" call was made.

I think the only thing you could hear over my whining today about finals were the distant whimpers of hop and bb...given the choice between a final and manky snow, I think I still would take manky snow. At the same time, it makes me feel a little bit better about missing out on tomorrow.
