    fucking Catia

I just spent the last two days at school until 2am and 11:30 respecatbly working on cad drawings for my senior project, and this fucking piece of shit program locks up and freezes, and has so many fucking glitches that it took forever to do what it should haveonly taken a few hours to do.

As of tuesday afternoon, im going to go back to being the uber drunk kid that shows up to class wasted for the rest of the year

Scientists now have decisive molecular evidence that humans and chimpanzees once had a common momma and that this lineage had previously split from monkeys.

What version? Where I used to work used Catia and I didn't think it was so bad....You want shit, try IDEAS, I have no idea why my school uses this. In one lab (the one they keep open at night) it will randomly lose connection with server with the licensing information and won't let you save anything.

We use the most recent version here at work. Licensing cost a fortune for the 20 buyers and 30 quality reps so for day to day stuff we mostly use DMU. I have seen a few people walk out of the catia lab ready to shoot someone, so looks like your not the only one that has issues with it.

GG, you e-mailed me a while ago asking for information or something. I think I ignored you. You still need it?

I have Catia running damn close to 100% of the time I'm at work. Catia V4 on Unix was probably more stable, but it's pretty damn archaic. V5 on Windows crashes more, but it is Windows after all. That's to be expected.

Heh. I had to do some research on Dassault a couple days ago for a class I'm in. What kind of project are you using it for?

Yeah, the version (stable) I saw was Unix based. I left before anyone really started on V5.

Not sure if your question is directed to mbs or me. I'm using it for a fairly large project: http://www.boeing.com/commercial/7e7/flash.html

    Fairly large, indeed! Sweet!

The question really is to whomever is using the software. I had to reseach them in comparision to a company that is coming out with a similar piece of software, but directed at printed circuit board design. So I am just curious what people are using CATIA for.

I don't think you can even call CATIA just "a piece of software". It's capability, like most modern 3D CAD suites is immense.

Along with Boeing, I believe it is still DaimlerChrysler's design tool of choice, and has been for quite a while.

It's funny... I think most of the frustration at the college level with CAD programs is based on the University's poor support on the server side. Also, if it's not something you are staring at most of your workday, its easy to get pissed. Once you're off into the work world and become close and lovey with one of the CAD suites or the other, it becomes your best friend. (but still your most hated enemy as you push its limits).
As I rained blows upon him, I realized there had to be another way.
