No, but I was up there when that snowboarder launched off Rush Chute and buried himself after landing on his head. It took ski patrol a while to dig him out and fortunately he didn't suffer any major injuries. Couldn't believe my eyes, thought the dude was dead.

ISKIBC, that head plant off Gaffney's was minor compared to the dude who made one turn, tail washed, then absorbed a 50 footer to rock with his head, plevis, arms etc. I thought he was dead. Some where I've got the video, insane carnage.

Most of my CO time was in the Roaring fork Valley, occasional Loveland October death strip, A-basin spring trips, & Crested Butte Free ski not withstanding

Sadly, my east coast years coincided pretty close to when the Badass Comp was going on. Never really had a chance.

Actually, I never had a chance in the comp either, so I guess it's a wash anyway.

Sure would have like to have seen it going off though...

Not the badass I did the USTSA comp there though. First guy to not make the cut

Particle did awesome in one of those too (top 10)

edit- that is once he ditched his marker bindings which plauged him for 3 or 4 tries

Those were good times. Was there lurking about at the 2000 comp - rode the lift with a very jazzed Particle, whose new magazine (Steep? Slope?) had just hit the stands in the lodge earlier that day, much to the glee of those of us chumps who had retired to the bar early and were looking for something to read.
