Thinking of getting the Avy level 2 program up in Tahoe in early january. Ideally I would do it back up in Rogers Pass but i live down here now. Any thoughts about how worth it the level 2 is?
What I am hoping to get out of it is better B/C awareness (obviously) and also some Tahoe experience, having not been from the area. It has a pretty sizeable price tag though 500$ + accomodations.
Looking for some other opinions - thanks.

There will be a Level II course taught in the Surgar Bowl area in February as well. This course will most likely be significantly cheaper. The course will focus more on Professional Rescuers and Ski Patrollers; however, there will still be significant backcountry discussions and training. What you want is the Lake Tahoe Community College program for which I think registration has already occurred. It supposedly fills up within an hour of registration opening.
