... MORE SNOW EXPECTED IN SIERRA AND WESTERN NEVADA SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY...

ANOTHER COLD PACIFIC WEATHER SYSTEM FROM THE GULF OF ALASKA IS FORECAST TO BRING SNOW INTO THE NORTHERN SIERRA SATURDAY EVENING AND SPREAD EAST AND SOUTH ACROSS WESTERN NEVADA AND THE CENTRAL SIERRA SUNDAY MORNING. SNOW AMOUNTS IN THE NORTHERN SIERRA COULD TOTAL UP TO A FOOT IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS WHILE A FEW INCHES ARE POSSIBLE IN THE VALLEYS OF NORTHEAST CALIFORNIA AND EXTREME WESTERN NEVADA BY SUNDAY MORNING. TWO MORE WEATHER SYSTEMS TRACKING EAST FROM THE EASTERN PACIFIC OFF THE NORTHERN CALIFORNIA COAST ARE EXPECTED TO BRING ADDITIONAL SNOW TO THE SIERRA WITH RAIN OR SNOW IN THE VALLEYS ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY AS TEMPERATURES AND SNOW LEVELS SLOWLY RISE.

I'll be there Sunday, along with my friend Nan (boarder) and I think Uber is tagging along with us as well. See you all, 10 at 10.

Should I bring my bc gear? I'm all geared up now.

If they do get a foot of snow, the boundaries won't be open. I might wear my beacon inbounds, but I'll be hypocritical and not carry probe or shove..

I'm game for a Sunday roadtrip. I'll show you Greydon's uber secret SF to kirkwood in under 3 hours route. Conveniently, it goes right through Walnut Creek.

I'll be beepin' inbounds too. I just started reading Bruce Tremper's book and after a talk with Sobchak I'm a bit skeered. I have a feeling it's gonna be hairy out there, and after getting caught in that slide under Treman's last year I don't want a repeat.

i always wear my beacon when skiing during/after a big dump inbounds @ Alpine. Like K'weed, lots of hiking/traversing to boundries edge and beyond, and patrol, as good as they are, aren't always going to get everything....just smart to wear it if ya own one....just my .02.....have fun out there and be safe (all paranoid after DUPH's post...)

Arty, Twice this year I’ve watched friends kick off small slabs inbounds at the 'wood, plus “the crew” tends to be some of the first dudes out to the more remote areas of Kirkwood, so if anything is unstable…, finally, Kirkwood is a giant wind tunnel and terrain trap. Next storm I’ll be beeping’ too and keeping the eagle eye on the bros during the first traverse into Eagle Bowl or the Palisades.

I agree on the beepin' in bounds, and generally carry the goods as well . . . especially cuz it's fun to be ready if they do open the boundaries - though I may not carry the pack as much this year.

Wow, what a collection of fragmented thoughts - yeah Friday

hey...If I'm not allowed to wear goggles that don't have a white band, you are not allowed to go sans backpack

beepin @ KW -- prolly not a bad idea considering all the stuff we've all kicked off over the years. Especially in the 'Lose the Gaper Traverse' area....that's where we kicked some small stuff off early this year and where I nearly got taken out from above during a warm spring day. Shit I'd turn it on just driving over the Spur...getting half buried in my car there 2 season ago was scary as shit.

Photo from last Sunday in the Pallisades gullies.
Note the fractures on the left side of the screen. Those were the result of StoneyWall and released into a potential terrain trap (not a really bad one, but if the slope went a bit bigger it could be serious.

    Skier is Greydon.

Riding the lift the other we were wondering, 'think we will ever hear from laght again?' 'Ya', I said, 'Soon as the conditions start to get really good we will be blessed with his teal colored ski outfit, pockets full of beer.'

glad to hear from you. I will see you there monday!

Okay man, shoot me your addy and I'll swing by. I'm not 100% certain yet on the trip, but if things line up tomorrow, I definitely will be.

Allright, it's off to the Gold Club for some Friday night debauchery...

Now here's a man with a plan! Let's all keep an eye on each other out there. When I got caught in that avy last year, hardrider had no idea I had gone for a ride. It wasn't his fault at all, there was no way he could see it from where he was standing. Still, it's a good idea if we all keep an eye out for each other.

It's cold and clear tonight. I just stepped on the snow outside the house and there's a creme brulee crust on top of the pow. I'm still an avy moron, but I have a feeling this could get interesting.

Seem to remember hardrider going under right behind me in one of those gullies last year. I thought he was still up the hill til he popped up gasping.
