What the hell, I'll continue the cavalcade of responses to Icemang.

You don't suck that bad, go! Lay off the smokes and wine for a day or two, you'll be fine.

I myself couldn't survive the lack of beer and smokes said trip would entail, so I'll have to beg off.

PS, by the way Mr. Icemang, I heard something today which intrigued me, drop me an email.

Micah is one of the most genuine people that I have met skiing and he is the absolute man in terms of celeb pro status, but alas this is a highly expensive pursuit.

ONS, I just got a really cool voice mail from Theo about the rendezvous and I know that I cannot go. Even though I'd like to send some great customers his way, my responses would mirror this thread since fundage, time, and the like dictate everything. Good luckand if you're going to do it, let me know and I'll help you find some rich, ripping skiers with time.

Great idea, though. That sounds like the experience of a lifetime.

I guess you're out. Owens mentioned sluff management, but he didn't mention anything about suck management.

A lot of people in the 'I suck worse than you do' comp this year. Go use my equation to settle it once and for all.

And I should have mentioned that this is the type of thing I'd love to do, I just always have it in my head that such camps are overpriced. But if it's the same as a normal week, well hell, why not?

I did the H20 equivilant last year. We were supposed to have Seth Morrison as a coach until he backed out for more MSP filming. We had Dean Cummings, Spencer Wheatly, and Hilaree Nelson, and Kristen Ulmer for celeb skiers/coaches.

I would say I learned alot, but I'm not sure it was the best forum for instruction because everyone paid some beaucoup bank and deep down you know that every minute you're being lectured is another minute you aren't skiing.

So no, I probably wouldn't go again.

ONS I'm gonna make you a offer you can't resist. Let me go free now and in a couple years I'll do my first seg for free.

Its a really good idea but its spend 3k on heli skiing or get a new street bike.

Really - gotta know. Just curious on my part. It sounds pretty pricey. Just an estimate would be O.K.

Value is the question. People will rearrange priorities if there is a good value - rich or poor. If this is a rare opportunity that is relatively affordable you may see good success.

Which company are you with again? Is there a website I can check pricing. I doubt I could afford it but it never hurts to dream.

I'd be game depending on cost. I gots the time, and needs to skillz. I like the idea of working it off for raft guiding, come on, you know you need more help. haha, I wish

I'm thinking it would probably be around $3500 including lodging at the Alyeska Prince Hotel. 5 days, 6 nights with snowcat backup.

Could there be a discount for, say, staying in a dirt lot off of Alyeska Drive? Or under the overhang at the Merc? And just pay for heli/coaching time?
My visa doesn't yet have a large enough limit to warrant staying at the Prince.

I'll keep an eye on Chugach page.

I'm sure will could work out a non-lodging rate.

    Hey O,

While there's no way I could swing that sort of thing this year, I'd be interested in the concept if it provided some REAL, LEGIT instruction. I guess I'd like to know what, exactly, a backcountry skier would learn that he/she doesn't know already. Advanced ski-mountaineering? Advanced avy stuff? Assisted entry? What are we talking about here?

I would be into a heli experience that offered:

    1) MORE VERT. The one day I rode a heli, 5 runs went by in time for a late lunch. This sucked. I want to fly and ski until everyone passes out or pukes up their Clif Bars.
    2) Instruction is great, but don't make it cut into skiing time...see above. Days are too short in February anyway.
    3) Some way to enforce a reasonable skill level on the group. I went cat skiing in a group which contained gaper boarders and it was hideous. We could have done twice as many runs had the guides not spent all their time towing snowboarders out of flat spots.
    4) Some video, preferably digital. I want to enjoy vicarious remembrance for years after.

ONS; This sounds like a kick ass deal how ever much I would be interested there is no way I could pull it off by feb 04. Would be interested in 05. If trip w/Karl is not going to happen. Any chance of doing something in say April 05?
Unless of course between now and next week I hit the Powerball jackpot or hook up w/a rich Lady that wants to finance my life of Pleasure.
