Advice needed with unique core shot

I'm trying to determine the least painful way to repair a core shot in my skis. The damage is about the length of a the long side of a credit card, and about as wide as a credit card is thick. So, image tipping a credit card on its side-it would fit perfectly in the core shot. I've come up with 3 options:

    1) Repair like a normal gouge, hoping that the very narrow nature of the core shot will hold the p-tex in.

    2) Repair like a normal base weld using tweezers and a magnifying glass to somehow lay down a base of expoxy. However in all likelyhood I'll probably end up gluing a finger to the base.

    3) Destroy even more of my base and create a wider, more mangeable core shot and base weld.

So any shop gurus have advice/experience they wish to dish out?
    Thanks

If it is not on or near any edge material I would prolly go with the base weld/hot p-tex gun repair.

someone posted recently about cutting the damaged area into a dovetail slot like this / \ to help hold the repair in - sounded like good advice.

Destroy a bit more of your base material. It'll be easier and it'll hold.

If this were me I would try them in the order you listed. A progression from least amount of base disruption to most....

I repaired a big core shot last week by filling the original hole (no cutting) with 5 min epoxy. after a couple mins of letting the epoxy set up, I dripped P-tex directly over the epoxy. I let it sit overnight and applied another P-tex layer. scraped it down and waxed over it. its held for 5 days (anti-jinx) no problem.

Even if it went through the glass and to the wood, I'd just go powder 11's route.
    Seal it, patch it, ski.
