any experience with Giant frame warranties?

So I cracked my rear triangle on my Giant AC Air Lite (apparently, this is pretty commonplace), and my local shop said it will be warrantied by Giant.

They got me all excited because they said that Giant will most likely replace the frame with a new 2005 Reign - I was so stoked!!! Unfortunately, after talking with Giant, they will only warranty the rear triangle, which is fine, but man i was hoping for a new frame!

Anyone have experiences with Giant warranties? Could I have requested a 'frame upgrade' and only paid a certain amount to go to the new Reign?

Depends on their inventory levels but probably not. I rarely have any luck with stuff like that. Fork upgrades are usually pretty easy with Manitou though.

My buddy just warrantied an ac air that cracked at the chainstay. The frame upgrade option was horrible. He would have had to pay nearly 3/4 of retail on the new freeride frame for it. Also, since they're not making the AC anymore they say it wil be 5-8 weeks for his part to get to him. So far they've been decent regarding the warranty, but it seems like a situation that will get dicey in 2 more weeks when the part is suposed to be here.

Well, my shop just called me today - the rear triangle (which is being warrantied only, not the whole frame), just came in today. It was only last week that I brought it in for warranty! So the replacement was quick - stoked on that at least!
