The bros are what I'd hoped for - great service - now to put them to the test at a ski area out west...
Seriously Thanks.
Great talking with you last week BRO!![]()

Cool.... they got there a little earlier than they said. 1-2 tune and hot box them if you can, Karl.
Go Bro!

Hey splat - I might just wax 'emand ski pow - that would be o.k., right. I have my own tuning files - when you say tune, if I just hit'em with the files to 1 degree that should be fine, right? I don't want to see 'em ground on a machine yet, ,do I??

Hell yeah. But if you have them shop tuned sometime, a 1 base, 2 side tune seemed to work OK on the demos. I'm gonna try a 2/2 one of these days. I hear you on that no more romancing the stonegrinds stuff. Hand bevel works fine, less waste.Originally Posted by Karl Stall
APD - The bases start holding wax pretty well after two hot waxes. Just wax on, wax off, Miyagi-style. A nice warmer upper like next to a furnace or heater will get that base plenny ready for the wax bukkake. Also, those bases and edges are very burl. If you have to ride the rocks, don't worry too much. At Hood, I ran one of the demo pair over 20-30 feet of pointy rocks just to check 'em out. nothing.
edit: Karl, if you're gonna use them primarily for pow, you can drop them back a couple mm's for ultimate float, but it's pretty damn hard to sink that tip.
Splat, one last question:
regarding the mount point, will the shop know what to do? What does the line signify? That little arrow on the ski boot bottom?

yellow wax let soak over night scrape, yellow wax let soak over night, scrape, yellow wax scrape, then wax for temp, standard base prep
Its not that I suck at spelling, its that I just don't care
that will open up some lines in wolverine that i've been holding off on for more snow. stoked!Originally Posted by splat
Karl, i'm told the line is boot center
Yes, boot centerline. Like I said, if you think it's primarily a pow ski for you, you can drop back from that line a couple mm's. Don't listen To BakerBoy when he comes on and says go back 2 cm. mm's.Originally Posted by Karl Stall

I'm damn near certain that's what a hot box is.
That is a matter of preference. Mounting forward makes them snappier, they initiate a turn faster. Mounting them back makes them a bit slower, more for gs style turns. You DEFINITELY DO NOT want to mount either way by 2 cms. You'd be amazed how much difference a few mm can make.Originally Posted by splat
Close enough. Have fun, Karl!
