    Flat light photo taking tips

I have a canon powershot S410 digital camera, and it has quite a few bells and whistles that I have no idea what they do, but I know that when I try to take photos in flat light my pictures come out like crap. Any tips on how to remedy this or attempt to make these pictures clearer? Thanks.

Have your tried adjusting the shutter speed for a longer "exposure"? You can also adjust the color and contrast balances in an image editor such as photoshop or gimp. However I don't think there is anything that will ever give you the quality of an image taken on a blue bird day.

another thing that may help is to adjust the white balance on the cam. It prolly has a few presets. Select the one for overcast light. It might help a bit.
