there is no need for a studded tire (if you have 4wd/awd) after you have tried these babies. Granted, they don't work as well on black ice compared to studs, but from cold, dry pavement, to snowpack you will love the traction! Don't leave these tires on all year though (the Tire Factory dude told me there are good for year round use) the tire preforms best it seems on pavement below 45 degrees F. But the soft compound and 2,100 sipes per tire make for excellent winter driving! Also rated for Severe driving conditions, so you dont have to chain up at the traction tires mandatory road block the staters throw up from time to time
