    the ZONE ...

... kinda weird how it works
sometimes you can feel it coming on from the moment you wake in the morning and sometimes it hits you like a 32.1 degree shot of jager just when you think you're legs are fried.
either way, you gotta luv when it shows up - body, mind and skis are one with the snow and you rue the end of the day.
you're seeing everything, decisions are 2 steps ahead of the situation, nobody can keep up with ya, you're stompin shit like you never left the ground.
ya leave the hill wondering if it'll be there tomorrow or when it'll show it's beautiful face again.

    ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh .... the zone!!

It's easy to tell when you are in the zone with golf.

With skiing, I only realise when I am not in "the zone" - however, this does not mean that I am in "the zone" the remainder of the time.

The Zone is every bluebird day in the BC after three weeks of high pressure and you can ski ANYTHING you lay your eyes on and have the legs to get there.

Skiing in the ZONE is the Grunge feeling 'tame' and wanting more. Perhaps a 100ft. cliff in the middle to spice it up.

After five days of no skiing, I need some 'Zone' action tomorrow. Stick the needle in my arm, I'm shaking.

I was merely describing what I've observed outta you thus far this year. You know my skis stay on the ground.

Xactly, Xunder. The zone is one of the coolest aspects of skiing, and also that much more difficult to get to when you live in the flatlands of the midwest, since knowing your skis, terrain, etc. helps you achieve it. I have been there before, but the best days in the zone for me have happened in the Chugach.

I know I'm in the zone when I'm typing 117 words per minute, changing the office water cooler without spilling a drop, checking my voice mail and being able to understand every single word of each message....YES!!! THE ZONE!!!
