I got Friday's nugs show with Billy. Billy was great. Loved to see him play with the Dead as well.
Show was soooooo slooooowwwwwww though. And Bobby, love ya man, but you're done. Let someone else sing. Anyone else.

Yeah, he is old, but I'm just enjoying the fact he's still living and playing. He won't be forever. And I did specify pick last night for the Trey opener and the unknown colab that was coming. I'm glad I went. Mayer has really become a lot better from when I first saw him years ago also, so that was good. Like always, a live show is so much better than a vid. ...and the chocolate mushrooms were tasty and fun.
Funny, some young kids in front of us decked out with all their tgr gear. I almost asked if they had change for a nickel.
My neighbor said the sound on Friday was terrible. Which tracks because I can usually hear park concerts from my house but Friday was nothing. Saturday and Sunday the sound was more typical volume for the park.
Hope you enjoyed. Seemed like it was just a giant money grab to me. Apparently John Mayer is now majority owner in the dead. Not sure if that’s been discussed but seems weird
RE: earlier post about Cracker/CVB:
David Lowry is the only member of CVB who is in Cracker.
He is the frontman/lead singer of both outfits.
But to get back to the gist of this thread, upcoming shows on my docket include:
MEATBODIES @ Lo Bar Social Club, Reno - 8/8 https://meatbodies-band.bandcamp.com/music
VICE GRIP @ River Ranch, Alpine Meadows, CA - 8/11
FEMI KUTI @ CBC, Crystal Bay NV - 8/13
Yeah, when the tickets launched my wife was put off by the costs and said it feels like a money grab. It was a helluva production to put on, so idk...they didn't lose money ? Then we had a UVM friend flying out from back east to crash at our other UVM friend's house in the city, so it was old OG Phish fans coming together. Free place to crash and good old friends. Definitely worth it for us. And again, Trey was a biggest draw for me, but in the end I was really stoked to see Bobby and Mickey.

Re: production costs for dead. They saved a ton because they piggybacked off the infrastructure already getting set up for OutsideLands this coming weekend. Almost if not everything was already being out in place. It wasn’t free to them to use , but I assume they got a very good deal since from the other events organizers. I’d say they certainly made some good money
There have been so many complaints about the $600 ticket costs. People spend that on shoes. I have no problem paying for experiences. The first set of Friday was a snore, the second set picked up. I think its planned you have to build for a 3 day event. The sound was perfect, they had Bobby's guitar turned way down. Hes def passed his prime but he brings that nostalgic feeling. Mayer is a fecking technician, hes incredible.
Hello darkness my old friend
Its a corporation and they are in it to make money. Among other things. It still works I think. Saturday was the best night for me, that Morning Dew was ridiculous. "The best of the post-Garcia era" I read somewhere and it seems plausible. And Jack Straw was just off the hook and Bertha was fire too.
The corporatism is pretty evident though. The number of bars was insane, but filling a water bottle was a challenge. But hey the massive fleet of porta-potties was great too and that shit costs money, so...
The amount people spend to see these shows blows me away. Someday the staying power of the GD cover bands will be studied by anthropologists. I just don't get it, but hey, glad you people are into something, haha.
