Driving from Philly to Tremblant and back this week. Looking to pick up some CD's for the trek up the Northway.

    WTF mate?

Donavon Frankenreiter is chill, see the female singer/songwriter thread for some really good tunes, I drove from VA to ME yesterday listening to mostly that stuff.

Cant beat good jazz albums, you can listen to them over and over again, pick up some Miles from 65-69, and nothing like a little sarah vaughn when you are cruising at 3 am.

If you want relaxing floyd, go with "wish you were here" It has all of "shine on you crazy diamond", and you just cant beat that.

Josh Ritter, Bob Segar for sure, best travelling tunes ever, ya gotta have some Springsteen, damn near everything except "Darkness on the Edge of Town" that album is too depressing, IMHO. John Mellancamp makes for good travelling tunes as well. Oh yeah, ya gots to have the Grateful Dead along for the ride.

Of course I'll have Bruce- can't drive through Jersey without him. I think Darkness is a great album, if you REALLY want to get depressed, play Nebraska.

gotta throw a few out there, these are a few I always pack along.

Johnny Cash--anything, CASH is a good road CD

Blues Brothers-- Blues Brothers, definitely afew songs that will get you going when your head starts nodding

Eddie Murphy-- The best of Eddie Murphy, comedy is always good for long hours

Stevie Ray Vaughn--Texas Flood, good stuff.

Sublime-- 40 Oz's to Freedom, 'nuff said.

Rolling Stones-- Let it Bleed, classic Stones, great album.

Morphine--Cure For Pain, good 3am kind of music.
Skiing, where my mind is even if my body isn't.

    Franz Ferdinand
    Division of Laura Lee
Modest Mouse (sooo much to choose from, older stuff is better)
    White Stripes
The Darkness (incredibly cheesy, but surprisingly good)
Interpol (kinda lovey-dovey, but pretty soothing)
    The Killers
    Bill Withers
    The Meters
Guerillaz (second(?) album is nice and chill)
    The Pretenders
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.
