    SCARPA TYPHOON VS. GARMONT ENDORPHIN

I am a good off piste skiier off to Chamonix this winter. Will be doing a bit of touring. Quite aggresive skiier

    Cant decide between the two:
I have quite a wide foot and am about 5 foot 6

Any shouts on comfort? (this is most important)
I think the scarpa is stiffest.

Will probably be using fristchi bindings with prophet line 100

    Let me know your experiences?

I've had both, but I never skied the Endorphin. Ended up returning them before getting them out to the hills because I felt that they were too narrow for my foot. I'm currently in the Typhoon (60-70 days in them last season) because they fit the width of my foot better, however I get a good deal of pressure on the top of my forefoot due to fairly high arches.

I think the Typhoon is a great boot and I really don't have any complaints other than the top of the forefoot pain, but I think a bootfitter will be able to take care of that with little problem.

My biggest recommendation would be to get rid of the garbage "ride" soles that come with them and pick up a set of the grippy "Rally" soles if you are going to be doing any amount of hiking or bootpacking, especially in snowy scree.

Don't know much about the typhoon but I think you are probably right about it being stiffer and I think the typhoon is for a larger volume foot ,did you search ?

I got a low volume/wide fore foot/narrow heel and the endorphin works for me ,the g-fit liners didnt last very long but garmont warrantied it

remove 9 screws swap the soles and use the boot with a din alpine binding ,the boot works fine in a fritschi with either the din or AT sole

A good endorphin will feel like shit out of the box ,you buy the endorphin according to proper shell size , you commit to the boot based on the fitter's rec's ,then you MUST mold the liner

if it fits during the try-on out of the box before molding ... the boot is too big

I have kinda this same foot type and garmonts fit me well after molding. I have Titans now and they fit out of the box and i have done no mods (other than a booster) and never baked the original liners.

    Good luck.

FYI...the Endorphin is nowhere near a 130 flex rating...i think the "flex thread" has it at about 100 which sounds about right.

I tried titans and got toe pinch out of the box

I agree the endorphin isnt all that stiff 100 might even be pushing it but enough to drive a 100mm ski

I put intuition powerwraps in my endorphins and with the new liners they're plenty stiff enough to drive a fat ski.

I dont think they arent enough..hell i was driving BH Shoots with the Adrenalines. Was it "doable"? Sure...i did it...was/is it much easier with a stiffer AT boot?? HELL YEAH....

The Endorphin is a good boot. If you're not coming from like a race boot you should be fine, however the tongue design flex is odd.

I have Typhoons. If you have a narrow heel, you WILL need something in there to take up the volume. Here's how my inners look after 3 visits to 3 different bootfitters (I was in different resorts, otherwise I'd have gone back to the same one):

That said, now I'm quite happy with them, and fairly happy with their stiffness (5'11, 89 kgs, ride hard for a cube jockey but so-so compared to the TGR crowd).

I'm pretty sure Endorphins are a little narrower in the front (which doesn't suit my foot shape), but this is only based on what a friend was recommended when we went buying boots together.
You really need to stop knowing WTF you're talking about. (Tippster)

No doubt you'd better try them before buying, they serve different feet.
In theory, typhoon would serve better a large arch... But hey every foot is different.
Btw, fritschi + prophet is one of the heaviest combo one can imagine.....

cute liner. I know its all about how a boot fits your particular foot, but while everyone says scarpa is for a high volume foot, i'd argue that its more of a high volume ankle/heel. As the above picture illustrates.
