Nope. Skied before it, but not on it. I heard that you said it was good.
If Halloween was better than today on Baldy, the Cirque, and in Mineral Basin, then I guess I missed a good one. No matter. We'll have many more like 'em this season.

APD, sorry, I didn't ride it so I can't answer that. I have a tram pass, but hardly ever ride that thing on pow days. Too much waiting for me. You get hella more vert per hour in MB than you can get on the tram. Or any place else in Utah, for that matter.

Hey, maybe that's changed with Collins. How long is the ride, and how much vert is it? MB is almost 1500vf in 4.2 mins at avg speed.

I'm almost positive that the new Collins chair is the exact same vert as the Bird's lower chair Gadzoom, around 1830 or 1840 vertical feet. If Collins makes that trip in less than 5 1/2 mins that would mean it's a faster chair than MB.

it's quick up and quick down. the legs are burning. i think the vert is like 1,900 or something like that. germ pass is ~10,500. the base is around 8,600. i should have trained more on the tram. i can hike up just fine. it's the top to bottoms with lift access that's killing me.

edit: it is close to that fast. maybe 6 min?

Sounds like today was kinda okay, and tomorrow will be like, uh, mediocre or something??

Fack. Maybe I'll run into some of you guys/gals on Monday at Alta after I fly back into SLC?

If Collins is more than 5 1/2 minutes, then MB is still Utah's highest vert per hour chair (for those interested in such nonsense).

Hey Endless, out of curiosity, where would JP at basin fit in? It seems pretty fast.

Flyk, it's 2359vf (third most chair vert in North America). I don't know how fast it is. If it's faster than 6.8 minutes, it covers more vertical feet per hour than Mineral.

if it wasn't so cold i'd time it tomorrow. i'd guess that without the mid-loading station it would be pretty close to mb.

Endless, do you happen to know what Super Condor's vert per hour is at the Canyons?

Well, Gonzo text'd me and he got his wet dreams fulfilled this morning when he woke up to 30" of blower at Vail and got first chair.

In theory, JP at basin takes 7.2 minutes, but they normally run it below its rated operating speed. That said, JP has a much higher VTFH (5844 to 3157) than MB, so you're more likely to get more vertical on a crowded day. Not that there's ever a line, and once the lift attendant starts to recognize you (3rd or 4th lap) you can ski directly onto the chair without stopping.

    edit: spelling

How about terrain per hour! I'll take Collins anyday over laps in MB, yawn.

Yes, please do. You're one of the worst offenders for tracking stuff up too fast in MB.
