T-day announcement (NSR)
Strange thing happened this thanksgiving. My cousin of 21 announced to the family that he is gay. Actually, it wasn't that strange. Everyone was very happy for him finding the courage to come out (although I'm sure there were a few not exactly celebrating.) He did it very maturely and responsibly, and didn't even bring a boyfriend to make out with for shock value(that could have been classic though.)
I just want to say to anyone who still thinks someone would choose this lifestyle, as opposed to being born with it that you're seriously misguided. This had to of been one of the hardest things a person can tell his family. And while we're on the subject, my immediate family and I have known he was gay since he was old enough to display charicteristics for such a thing. This was not something that happened after a bad girlfriend experience in the 7th grade. This is who he is. No, thats not right. This is one part about him.
My cousin is a great guy. He is a world class gymnast (yeah...big surprise right
) on the verge of making the Olympic team in '08 and one of the hardest working sonsabitches I've ever met. He's down to earth, smart (friggin UCB smart) and apearantly not attracted to the dude on real world (the really fruity acting one I mean.) I'm glad he is my cousin.
I'm sure a lot of us have at least one in the family, and you've been though simular situations as a result. I gotta say, it was pretty huge for me. I've never been one to criticize homosexuality, but at the same time I've never had any gay friends either. Now I do. I guarantee I'm a better person for it.
cheers couz
