I like the sound of the backcountry.
I like the sound of flakes landing on my shoulders.
I like the sound of the whistling wind slicing through the forest.
I like the sound of mohair gliding through fresh snow.
I like the sound of snow crunching underfoot on a fresh trail.

I like the sound of my breath punching through the cold air.
I like the sound of silence and the absence of human life and conversation.
I like the sound of .......“fuck this skin track is steep…..damn it sure is deep over there....” in the near distance.....

There’s nothing better than standing atop a ridge on a cold and snowy day with nothing but a white room below you, with its doors wide open waiting for you to come in……

There’s nothing better than watching your buddies wear a shit eating grin not only on the descent, but all the way up the skin track after their first run of the day……..

There’s nothing better than the first few submersions into the great deep white, catching a mouthful of cold smoke……

There’s nothing better than sharing a few (or several) beers with a couple of friends at the tail end of a pow day………

There’s nothing better than doing it all over again the next day, and knowing your tracks will be the only ones amongst the deep and untracked……..

Kick ass guys! Great TR and pics. School only has me in its grips for another two weeks then I have a month to explore these places.

Coverage here in CO is quite nice now as you can see from all of iskibc's reports. Sure beats riding the lifts for the white ribbon of death.
