The Gourds - Gin and Juice
The Gourds - Gin and Juice
ha good one, hadn't heard that for a while. Definitely better.
This is great - John Doe covers the Replacements. I found it while I was looking for the Replacements covering Kiss:
Social Distortion does Under My Thumb pretty well, and they also do Death or Glory. Maybe not better than originals, but pretty good.
Fair enough. Thanks
^^^^BOOO!!!
It's a Dave Mason/Traffic tune, this is the best cover, come on mang:
You never hear the original, it's pretty damn good itself:
(although I just read it's in the move "Flight", I didn't know that).
^^^ I love the Traffic release but fucking cocker is WAY the fuck overplayed.... I could live my whole life not hearing that again. But hey, its music and everyone likes a little bit different, and I like that.
edit: quality kinda sucks but fun song none the less.
I liked the gunners take on Sympathy - just sorta in your face without all the bongos & shit. Wouldn't say it's beter though.
"Can't you see..."
Pretty much every cover by the Stones, Zeppelin, and Hendrix is better than the original.
Some of Tom Morello's live versions of Ghost of Tom Joad are kinda better than the Springstein version. Not Rage's version, the Morello weird solo "career" version.
Metallica's version of Turn the Page.
The Nirvana Unplugged versions of those 2 or 3 Meat Puppets songs.
Oh, and like half of Sublime's first album is really good covers that in some cases might actually be better than the original.
Johnny Cash's Devil's Right Hand, by Steve Earl. Steve Earl's version of Looking Through You, by the Beatles. The Beatles's version of Twist and Shout.
^^^See what I did there?
/rock and roll nerd
MUCH better than Bo... IMO
I wouldn't say better, exactly, but this is a seriously smoking version.
Sid's Version of Frank Sinatra's My Way
^^^ nice sid.....
said it before and will say it again... Umph kills the covers....
Everyone does Dylan better than Dylan but here's one I have liked since freshman year:
Something about the wrinkle in your forehead tells me there's a fit about to get thrown
And I never hear a single word you say when you tell me not to have my fun
It's the same old shit that I ain't gonna take off anyone.
and I never had a shortage of people tryin' to warn me about the dangers I pose to myself.
Patterson Hood of the DBT's
"Bang Bang" by Monophonics. Much better than Nancy Sinatra's original and Cher's cover.
If only george were playing gituar
