    Sports hernia : Recovery?

    I am a dumb fuck.

Noticed it first during the summer when running in the mountains and after couple of weeks of hard touring. Lot of vert skinning & climbing with crampons with all the shit and during the rest days some 2-3 hour runs in the mountains.

Starter to notice some pain in the groin and around hip. Ignored it and continued training for my first marathon. Last 3 weeks I could not run, only ride with a bike. Run the marathon with one leg & painkillers. Issues prevailed for few weeks .
Tried to train but the groin (left side) showed some discomfort when running and then got some weird cramps around the schlong, like pubic cramps or something...

Gave up and went to the doc and the initial tests :soreness when leg extended back, soreness in groin when pressed, the ploplop sound from the hip when raising leg,and discomfort when manipulated to extreme positions.

Doc didnt want to say anything definite without MRI (doing it within a week) but guessed iliopsoas tendonitis/burstitis,tear in ligament and in worst case some fracture in pubic bone or something.[/end of diagnostic wanking]

Anyone had experiences what the down time might be?
Quite bummed now. Doc said that in theese kind of cases it varies from 2-12 frigging months!!! He said that he does not have experiences with skiers though,as this is quite atypcal injury for them.
Any pointers in the fysio/training department, the info I have found have been really vague.

    All pointers would be appreciated!

    Cheers.

Go see a good sports physiotherapist for a second opinion. I'd also recommend seeing the best Active Release therapist in your area and see what they have to say. You need to find out if it indeed is the psoas and not something else in that area like the pectineus.
