    Thumbs up My Thanksgiving Holiday

I freaking love Thanksgiving. I have today off, so I decided that today would be Thanksgiving Eve slack day.

I slept in until 9:30, which is fantastic because I normally wake at 5 am for work. Stumble down the stairs to find Kona wagging in her crate. Take Kona outside in my pj pants and a robe, only to find my newly-moved-in Indian neighbor lady staring at me like I'm a heathen because I sleep in pj pants and a tank top. Pick my nose for a show, while Kona takes a huge dook in the backyard (mind you, the lady is still stareballing me).

Go back inside, watch "Design Guys" on Discovery, crochet a scarf, eat a bowl of Special K Red Berries, put on the freebie Helly Hansen movie for Kona (she'll lay down quiely if it's on) and fall asleep again on the couch.

Scoober calls - he's coming home early from work so we can go to the gym and then have "date night." Dinner and a movie - then the big festivities tomorrow.

I'm cooking up homemade cranberry chutney, homemade traditional rolls, homemade orange glazed crescent rolls and a "ribbon apple pie." We'll prefunk, then have dinner with my brother, his wife, my parents and her parents. Then ... turkey coma until I go back to work on Saturday.

    It's now 12:25pm and I'm still in my pj's - I freaking love Thanksgiving!

Well, usually we have snow and I go for a tour before the cooking/eating/drinking/smoking/barfing. But this year we have no snow, so I will wake up at around 4:30am and head down to the creek to lay waste to my sworn enemy, the drake mallard. Be home by 11am for a quick nap, then it's preperation time. On this year's menu:

    Duck balls
    Duck kababs
    Fried turkey
    Ham
    Mashies
    Green bean caserole
    green salad
    Gravy
    Pigs in a blanket
    Stuffing
    Fireball
    Irish Whiskey
    Budweiser
    Pecan Pie
    Pumpkin Pie

Life is good when all your friends are cooks, bartenders and restaurant owners!

    New Yawrk City!

Friends and fam for a cozy (!) dinner in my sister's 5 square foot apartment. I wanted to go duck hunting in central park, but I was told there's a good chance that something would shoot back at me.
    It's idomatic, beatch.

I'm in a full fledged turkey coma with that ready-to-puke-at-any-moment feeling.

Spent all morning baking up a storm. Our house smelled like a bakery. My apple pie kicked ass - the best I've ever made! The rolls weren't too shabby either.

We went to my bro's house and gorged on turkey, stuffing, Senator Russell's sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, rolls, homemade cranberry chutney, Frango mint pie, pumpkin pie cheesecake and apple pie. Now I feel like I'm going to puke, but the Christmas decorations are out in full force! Kona is stoked.

While pulling in the driveway, "Feliz Navidad" was on the radio, so I took the opportunity to blast it full fledged for our new neighbors.

Tomorrow the decorating continues with a trip to my favorite place ... Home Depot!

    Happy turkey day everyone.

i had the worst thanksgiving ever. tues morning when i woke up felt like i had been hit by a truck: full on flu. and i NEVER get sick, can't remember the last time i was too sick to go to work/school/play, etc. this knocked my shit out.

thanksgiving comes, and am still wicked sick. did not want to go to dinner and get everyone else sick. so i laid on the sofa all day, ate some soup. blew my nose 5000 times, drifted in and out of sleep...soo depressing.

feel somewhat better today - i have decided to finally shower and shave and change out of my flanell pj pants and fleece (might have to burn them)...snow forecast for tonight - Sat...Sun might be a pow day....maybe, maybe i can be ready, but the way i fell right now, not likely...

anyway, hope all had a happy turkey day!

I had a great day, but coma wasn't even the word for how I felt post-dinner.

I got up at 7, went to the gym, picked up the last couple things at the store and headed to Lexi's with a car full of groceries. I cooked 2 kinds of stuffing, turkey, cranberry relish, green bean casserole, pecan pies, rosemary potatoes, candied yams, and after about 5 hours straight of standing on my knee I started drinking a lot of spiked apple cider. Anyway, it turned out to be the juciest turkey I've ever made - Yum!

Then we watched Blizzard of Aaahs and Aspen Extreme. At which point I figured I needed to head home if I was going to make it at all. So tired.

But we had a great time and I'm glad so many people made it over!

    [QUOTE=altagirl] green bean casserole.

I kept thinking my Inlaws were missing something yesterday at dinner but couldn't put the finger on it and now I know! Green bean casserole is very tasty.

Why watch ski movies on T-day, when you can watch the ultimate Thanksgiving Day classic???
