Hmmmm, I'm not one to say. I think the couloir Stoy, Twoplanker and I skied in the Uintas was steeper and more intimidating. Only a few turns felt 'steep'. You certainly wouldn't have wanted to fall in most places.Originally Posted by gramps

Great work on the vid Trackhead. Great outing. The views look better than I remember. Then again, I was hammered so it was kind-of blurry. I need quads that work all day so I don't look like a gaper skiing that stuff. Must dawn patrol more often so I'm in prime shape by new years.
What's next? Deseret Peak for sure. Huge East/N. East coulior. Hmmm good. OR I was reading in Chuting Gallery and the NW of Box Elder looks sick-o. 2700', 45 degrees. Another long day in our future. Almost wish it wouldn't snow for another week so we could bag it before the conditions get too sketchy.

Deseret peak would be very sick. I've been on Box Elder, but didn't get the NW line. Doing it as an overnighter from white pine pretty much sucked. A long day from Alpine would be much preferable.
I'd be up for setting a target on Box Elder. Put that on the radar.Originally Posted by gramps

Done. Stoke-o-meter rising....or should I say "PEGGING"?

Will you have chicks in thongs to assist attendees of your ski camps?Originally Posted by str8line

In drove this drunken madman and stopped on a dime! Unfortunately the dime was in Mr. Rococo's pocket!
Looks like a great trip. My playback was kind of jumpy though. I look foreward to seeing more.
Andrew McLean's photo--STEEP shit, wow.![]()

The initial turns were the type where your elbow touches the snow as you stand upright. Or where when you're booting up, you nose is nearly touching the snow. Kind of a funny feeling really.
And Powstash-Stoy-APD, keep the Tetons in the front of your memory banks too. That stuff will be coming in soon enough.
Here are some of Stoy's pics he emailed me.

You don't need to borrow a sled, I'll tow mine down again. I towed it down for this trip, and looked like an ASS in the parking lot with no snow for as far as the eye could see. To top it off, I had Arizona license plates. "Hey, look at that chump from Arizona! He thinks he is going to ride his sled up that road!"
Hence the bikes.
Nice work. Tasty!
Thanks, I think?Originally Posted by Trackhead

I've watched the vid heaps of times. Wish I were in the hills right now.

There's a world out there full of color, dreams, and imagination. What are you waiting for?
Great video, love ski mountaineering in Utah, although I've never done it. Logistically, how much time did using the bikes save you? looks like quite a bit o' hassle for minimal advantage, but please correct me if I am mistaken. thanks
i think the bikes came in handy for the ride out. stoy and i kept up just fine on foot with less energy expended. the hard part was trying to put on cold alpine boots at the trailhead.Originally Posted by climb2ski
trackhead and powstash could tell you more about the bikes. for me, the leg burn would have ended that trip real quick.
It made for a nostalgic and unique approach. But the old quads felt a little funny when the skinning started. I was worried I may have fried myself for the long day ahead.
But on the way out it sure was fun. And I'd ride again, if I had too. Or next time just fire up the Polaris.
