(12"/ 40ft) snow was still good at the time
but heating up fast, propagating and running far.... also watch those Cornices they have been breaking far back during the warmups

I know this is a long shot but throwing it out there...my roommate lost a Voile Drifter w/dynafit on the bottom 1/3 of Superior this morning. If you somehow come across it or hear anything give me a shout.

Liam designed the routes that allow Snowbird to open almost all of their terrain most days this year and while it is true that terrain was opened less in his time, Snowbird is a work in progress and was really not all that old in Liams time there
Haven't been here long enough to give much of an opinion, except to say that I've been pretty impressed by how quickly Snowbird gets most of their terrain open on powder days. Their patrol definitely gets the job done. I am curious as to why Powder Paradise generally stays closed for days at a time though? Obviously a huge hanging snowfield above it, but do they need good visibility to blast it? Just because everything else seems to open right away. Not complaining, just wondering. Anyway, this weekend was awesome.

Custies like this douchebag were always my favorite to fuck with when I was a big time ski resort marketing muckety muck. Douchebag would bitch about a slight delay while patrol worked avy control.

So I would de-activate douchebag’s season pass on a big powder morning when I was doing the snow report. Douchebag shows up all excited to slay pow on first chair, but alas, his season pass isn’t working. Douchebag has to go to the season pass office, where we would spend time researching the issue and I would apologize for the technical snafu. I’d offer a lift ticket for one of douchebag's friends to make up for the problem, which was well worth the cost of delaying douchebag up to an hour on a sick powder morning. Particularly since douchebags like this rarely have friends so the breakage on my free ticket was acceptable.

So douchebag, I'm assuming you have a Bird pass, correct?

Glad I asked what the issue he had with Liam. I figured it was some specific incident that gave him a red ass; no turns out he is just impatient, please go somewhere else.

    Wasatch Conditions

Nah, January is dry and cold, April's wet and wonderful.

Thought I got off to a good start up pole line to Superior, but I guess I thought wrong. I think we counted about 30 or so people headed in that direction, at one time there was 13 dude's puttin in the booter for us. It was nice, everyone had a good grin on their face (except maybe the dude breakin, dunno but thanks a bundle). PLenty of goods to go around for sure. Monte skied like you were in a dream

Here's the photos, couple of them are pretty comical. The one of Monte Cristo was taken on the beautiful morning of October 27, 2010.

Oh ya, anybody see that dude skiing down the Y at 5:30am sharp? I had to do a double take, sure enough he was rippin down in the pitch black with a pretty bright headlamp on. Wonder if he got spooked or that's his thing?

And one more thing. A HUGE thank you to the Marshall, James up LCC. Homeboy tooled me around looking for my GoPro that I dumbfound-idly misplaced. The Monte footy was saved! Missed out on what I heard was a nice buffed out, face shot optional run down little superior and the room of doom, damn.

This dude in front of me however, this dude's got his shit on lock and fuck no it ain't his drifter laying 20 foot under some rubble on Superior, hell, he didn't even ski Superior. In fact on my way out I coulda swore I seen a Gnome rippin the shit out the Great White Icicle monoski style. Fuckin rippin I tell ya.

amazing weekend out there in the wasatch.
faceshots on every turn you wanted em.
twin lakes and then patsy proper on saturday, reminding me how much I love that whore.
Benson and hedges coolie and some cardiff apron love on sunday. crazy fun on sunday with the snow and only the hoots and hollers coming in from the mist to remind us that we were not alone even though we saw no one.
monte cristo to start the work week right. even ran into alecs up there. btw according to one 13 year lcc vet, today was about the best conditions one could hope for down monte cristo. effortless skiing for 3000' with a slight crust on the lower 200', i'll take that! hell yea! great weekend......
didn't notice any instabilities minus some surface sluffing. felt like i was skiing in slow motion at times the snow was so deep.

    Wow. Superior got gangbanged huh?

I had a great return to Utah long weekend. I was too busy skiing and meeting up with old friends to post any obs Friday to Sunday, but I think everyone knows how incredible the conditions were.

    Real quick stoke:

My first turns back in the game came on Raymond. Photo by myskishaveboobs.

Then shredded the shit out of Bengal Tiger. It was super deep up there on Saturday.

Sunday we cruised pass the gaper/bro train up Grizzly and had some fun in Wolvie Bowl and the Seagull. Got some cut cornices to go pretty large (not deep though) on the north-facing bowl off of Tuscarora right after some guys were standing on Wolvie contemplating center punching the Cirque. Hope they reconsidered.

Storm snow in the Seagull proper slid on the crust below but the sides skied well. Miniature myskishaveboobs here was digging the deep apron.

Said slide off of the Tuscarora north side on our way back to the ridge. ~300 ft wide and ran about 6-700 ft. Looker's left area naturaled about a minute after this photo was taken.
TRs, photos, videos, and building skis (2 pairs so far...):

It just keeps getting better. Backcountry.com has stepped up with a donation to the Friends of the Utah Avalanche Center to keep weekend morning avalanche advisories for the Wasatch, Uintas, and Logan area and weekday afternoon updates for the Wasatch going through April 24. So keep checking in and telling us what you see out there and give a big thanks to backcountry.com.

And to the maybe 3 people in Utah that weren't on Superior yesterday morning, conditions are still pretty good...

Well played, and this is too awesome to not quote.

back to the thread; my obs are we're enjoying a good season, terrain is filled in up high, things feel stable, and we may be washed away later this spring.

PLEASE STOP BRAGGING. I love this place too much to see you all cunt it up with this nonsense.

Spewing location after location and posting your video and pics disguised as backcountry observations is nothing more than vanity.

Can't you all STFU and ski? The skiing has been great! Isnt that enough? EVERYONE who wants to ski is out SKIING.

You bitch and moan about 'the pen' and the gapers you pass on the skinner, yet blog. Don't you see it is your actions that are the cause?

How many views is this thread up to?

the shit that gets hit, gets hit (superior), the shit that doesn't, doesn't. you sound worse than anyone else here, since you're the one bitching about everyone else being stoked about having a good time. you just need to get more creative...

I've been thinking about doing some raised box gardening this year. I guess it's time to get to it.

Admin, please change the thread title to reflect this new direction.

In other news, REI has agreed to pull the Wasatch Tours series, the Wasatch Tours maps, Backcountry Skiing Utah, and Chuting Gallery from shelves immediately. They had no idea they were blowing up your stash.
I agree, its a crazy thing to see so many people getting after it the way they do these days. But sir eASTcOASTtreeskier was right; be more creative, hike farther, ski harder. Times are a changing my friend, back in your day there was probably only 2 billion people competing for oxygen, now there is close to 7. Just like TH could give a fuck about being plugged into a vein of coal, I could give a fuck less about being inconspicuous about where I go (ya I know, whoreable analogy). I'll always ski fresh here in the Wasatch, if I don't, I'll move somewhere like Silverton and cunt up there lines
