I saw that coyote running down the road today, he totally ignored the hellgate closure and went right under the gate.
Conditions were good up high, legit face shots. But, somewhere on my second lap with the wind and snow and low vis I just thought, I'm over this damnit, I want corn and sun and beers at the car and long days of fast travel where you can see where you are going.
i hear ya zig zag - skied sunspot - was scary at about 215-230 - waited till road opened
i say 808
the nws has a live web cam at the bird - they are getting bombed
Total water is close to 3"=three feet of snow.
Saw that same coyote on the bypass road last night. Didn't seem the least bit concerned or stealthy even after I stopped to snap a pic, which was kinda weird. Does spring exist in the Wasatch? Lake Bonneville is gonna re-fill if/when it flips the switch from winter to 90 degrees sooner or later. Conditions at Alta about 8pm were barely turnable mank. Bailed for the groomer which was more fun.
It's heavy and it's wet. But it's still snow. Don't get out in the open on stuff that's too steep. It's slow moving but could pack a punch.
GO GIT SUM.
I've been trying to keep track, but its hard with the new snow not reporting. The only gauge is the total base depth, but with the warm temperatures the base will sometimes settle equally with the new accumulation. That being said I was saying the same as Lionel; 765''. More interesting for me is over 72'' of water since October 1st. 3.5'' more at the base of the tram since monday night. Snowbird destroyed their old water record at the base of the tram this season with 60'' from November 1st through April 30th. The old record was just under 55'' plus at least 4'' more in May.

Snowbird's reporting 754" on their website... matches pretty well with everyone's numbers.
Skied Silver Fork today, pretty heavy, but nice surfy snow. Stuck to the trees and didn't see any signs of instability, but i'm sure on steeper stuff you could set off something large and slow moving...
mmmmmmm, let the cook down begin. maybe mid canyon south^^^^^^^^before total burnout, on it. then, wonder what that mlk layers gonna provide down the road? maybe some extra support for a bit? maybe a bit more staying power for what lurks below? gonna be interesting maybe. summer skiable stuff what normally not is. hope it don't go all las vegas hot all of a sudden..........
snows melting fast here. hmmmmmmmm
rog
totally sober, trackhead. just how my mind wanders and wonders. thinking out loud i guess. pardon me. may book a last minute flight in 10 days or so for 3 weeks out, from now. would be nice to be able to go from e to s to w by then. wishful thinking maybe. maybe not.

Forecast is for more white stuff Sun - Mon - Tues
Cottonwood Canyon's Forecast """A very week short wave coupled with good moisture will increase the threat for convection during the day Sunday...this ahead of the next trough on tap for Monday and Tuesday. Snow levels will begin very high and above ridgelines early in the event...but bottom out near 7500 ft on Monday Night. This next trough is not nearly as impressive as the last...though another inch of water is likely by midweek. Ridging dominates starting Wednesday."" 1" of water 6-8 inches snow
I feel for that parking lot dog, after a winter of feasting on bagels and little debbie snack cake he has to find some potguts to eat, and there under 190 inches of snow!
carpe diem vita brevis
Saw him this morning at Hellgate.
Skied north facing at 10,500ft around 10am today. Snow was actually really fun. Kind of a big sponge, even on rando racing skis it skied well. It's definitely going to get dangerous today with heating though. 3ft of really dense snow over firm snow.
