Nope not me - I'd have claimed it. Looked like they started below the choke. This is the first time I've seen snow in the choke.
Ya ya, I meant McKee. I'll be on the lookout.
As with most things we do in life, there are usually consequences. Skiing in a densely populated area like Lt. Cottonwood Canyon can result in situations that affect many others. It is fortunate that there was no one was on the Lt. Superior apron when this occured, and it is fortunate that the debris didn't reach the road where it could have also been a bad deal. Because of all of us trying to make it work, together, we need to make good decisions. If we don't we may affect others adversly. Choosing where you go, and when you go there, based on good back-country proceedures may be something we should all strive for.
Liam
liam / brad just because thats the second hudge slide trackhead set off little superior this year doesn't mean he has bad backcountry skills or does it?
Trackhead,
You might like to see some photos of you last Friday (4/22) that I shot from Lake Blanche (with a telephoto) while my buddy and I watched your descent off the LCC ridge into upper Mill B South. I made a movie from stop action pictures I shot with my DSLR Nikon at 4 frame/sec. of your run off the ridge. I tried to contact you via fritzrips.com, but my message bounced as undeliverable. Can you contact me so I can give you the info about where to find my photos? My email is hitchner@acm.org
... just got a text from a good friend of mine. shit is still really active (see link below). please be safe out there folks and listen to your gut instinct, if you got one.

Classic! Liam telling Trackdick he makes bad BC decisions. Nice going Trackdick, next time it snows 1/2" the road will be closed all day.
Hunting kicks ass.
Chicks dig Labs.
I'll keep my job, my money and my guns and you can keep the change.
From my cold dead hands.
Hahaha. He couldn't resist. Trackdick though? Wow, fuckin' smooth, real smooth.
Smuggs, Birdhunter, and UDOT suffer from short and long term memory loss.
1. Skier triggered slide #1
2. Skier triggered slide #2
3. Well documented slide on Superior in the media.
4. Hucking bombs is not without consequences.
The road was closed, with the bypass open, for control work. There were natural, explosive, and skier triggered slides all over the place that morning. If UDOT was being observant, they would have either kept the bypass route open and the road closed, or closed it after watching the avalanche activity from skiers previous to us.
We had no intention of skiing the south face, unlike others that morning who started large slides down the same face.
That's the last I'll speak of this issue.

Not really wanting to get in the middle of a couple of posts that each individual is, IMHO, rightfully and respectfully sensitive to. However, knowing both individuals fairly well, both in a working and non-working environment, I will undoubtedly go on public record as saying that I believe both individuals handled the issue(s) of concern appropriately, admirably and democratically. I'm sure they will both make any necessary changes to their respective decision making processes no matter whom or what they concern.
That is the last I will speak of the issue here.

End of an era Liam? Hope not!!! You guys have a tough job keeping everyone happy and safe.
I really hope we can find a solution. Maybe banning fat-skis, head-cams, and post-shred blogging would be a good start?![]()
