"Alta will be closed today Monday April 18th due to weather and conditions. We are planning on opening tomorrow Tuesday, conditions permitting." Off Alta's website. Rain/snow right now, thunder and lightning expected later today.
Today April the 18th UDOT plans to conduct avalanche artillery work in Stairs Gulch at 1500.
Really doubtful that anyone is out there, but please stay clear of upper Broads Fork and Stairs Gulch until after 1600.
Thanks.
^^^how'd that go in Stairs, Brad?
Anyone know how heavy that foot or so of new snow was up there today?

... you are a rookie bitch with a cougar puss. please, out of respect for the elders of this community sit back, stfu, listen, learn, smoke crack, think about contributing, think again, listen a little more, ..... then possibly contribute an oz of knowledge.
p.s. newschoolers would love you though; maybe spend your jr hgh school years over there then come here spewing obvious common sense .... just a thought jackass!!
p.s.s. stop cunting up this thread with a billion and 1 posts of honey nut cheerios!!!!

UDOT plans to conduct avalanche control work in Little Cottonwood Canyon this morning (4/19/11) begining at 6:30 am. Stay clear of all highway avalanche paths until after the road has been re-opened. Estimated re-opening time is 8:30 am.
hahaha, not going to come back at you with any "jr high school" bullshit, but i think you'd be very surprised what i'm actually like to meet and ski with in real life, if you'd take the time to get off your high horse and realize i'm probably no different than you when it comes down to it.
pss, there would be no cunting of this thread if og badass mufuckas (you) didn't find it necessary to try and take everyone who posts in this thread down a peg.
Maybe you should start your own Wasatch thread, where we can get together and talk about what skiing might be like tommorow, Mt. Superior, and go pro footy of injuries/reckless skiing at snowbird.
Lay off the gummi bears, bud.
Hey, Brad Davis, does UDOT have an official position on the all important ectreeskier vs. Xover controversy? It just seems like you come in to telling us when and where the bombs will fall, but never stick around to contribute to the truly important topics being discussed here.
Planning on getting out tomorrow morning and digging down to look at faceting around the MLK crust. If any snow nerds want to come, digging partners are always appreciated!
Or switch to Gummy Bacon way more core

In your defense you don't come off as retarded as your posts IRL and it's not like OG Xover is exactly killing it with his signal to noise ratio in this threadI'd challange him to a High Boy party ski off if I were you
After a hearty bfast of honey nut cherrios headed out for the crack o noon tour top winds howled most of the day, interesting rimecycle trees.
Good turns on N and W facing wolverine shots. 7 pm exit w facing patsy past the drivein creamy goodness and a bit heavy down to the summer road.
Gusty ridgetop winds led to bit of wind jack on tops of chutes.
As for stability pretty good overall, ussual sensitive wind loaded cornices and some cracking of wind loaded pockets.
Hasty hand pits reveled easy to moderate q1 shears mostly failing a inch or so above old bed surface on density change in new snow.
Happy 420 safety 1st and often.
Oh and my nomination for the wasatch telefufkin tGRammy for the best butthurt, I'm out of here tiraid goes to the Bird Hunter.

Ah, I miss the drunk Xover lambastings!
Sounds like fun, but I don't even know what a ectreeskier or an Xover is.
Sorry don't have the time to be relevant here.
Just want to keep you guys away from our artillery.
Carry on, -Brad.

Surprisingly good skiing this morning. Was worried that the late day sunshine yesterday fucked up south or west faces. Was surprised to find that it did not. New snow was bonded to old surface pretty well (minor sluffing off the top).
Dug down about 240cm in grizzly today. Couldn't even touch the ground with my probe from the bottom of the pit.

Hi Brad,
Thanks for the great info.
& for improving the tgr signal to noise ratio.
It's the winter that just keeps giving![]()
wasatch mags... teton skier looking for partners. Jonesing for anything from mellow pow to high ski mountaineering, definitely more stoked on the ski mountaineering side (have decent bit of trad/ice experience, and gear as well). Have a month or so, so I'd be up for any far flung missions as well.
but I know we can't all stay here forever, so I wanna write my words on the face of today...
