Skied SE aspects at high noon, because I don't like getting up early, and starting wet slides is fun. Giant roller balls and some soft oozer slabs on steeper slopes. All manageable.

    Fine spine.

Wet slide on south aspect. One turn starts the cascade, then get out of the way.

    Hey guys,
Poster from cali headed out to shred alta/bird PC resorts. wondering if any of you guys had any cheap lift tix or coupons for any of the resorts you wanted to get rid of? lemme know. id really appreciate it. heading out for 3 days of skiing with $300 in your bank account is sketch but the storm coming is worth the chance of getting reamed by running out of gas or something.
    stoked anyhow. thanks.

    Lisa Falls

Here's the video from yesterday, pardon the gangsta rap but it came on at 3:45 in the morning in my car, therefore becoming my theme-song for the day.

On a sidenote, I heard that the cheapest you can get a Bird pass nowadays is like $117, they gotta pay for that rollercoaster down MT.SUPERIOR somehow

... i just had a "fun" flurry of a brainstorm that do to better judgement, old age, hatred of deaf ears and immense sorrow for Raddam won't make it to my fingers. i'm sure those that know me, can imagine. none the less, good to see TH skiing again and SC cabbaging "current" condition beta off the WWW.

    s'more pics from Lisa

Our approach to Lisa was not exactly the standard. We went up a couloir that begins just to the left of Lisa but then angles northwest. We topped out right where the burned trees in Deaf Smith meet the ridge. From there it's a very enjoyable climb up the southwest ridge to the summit. We could have skinned the whole thing if it weren't for some icy spots.

The Southwest Face of Twin was looking mighty tasty.

I must say Lisa Falls is the coolest cooly I've ever skied.

My MCL injury from a few weeks back unfortunately acted up again on the descent so I had to very carefully and slowly wiggle my way down.

Getting soaked by ice water adds a whole new dimension of fun to rappeling!

The final 1000 feet of rappeling, downclimbing, and scrambling was quite frankly a living hell because of my knee but oh well, it was worth it

I feel bad for this kid, but the fact that they actually thought they could clear the creek with the kicker they built is hilarious.

It's too bad he was so badly hurt, otherwise the whole thing would have been hilarious. I'm no gap-jumpin' fool, but even I could see that there was no way in hell they were going to clear the creek with that kicker, and even if they did, it was a completely flat landing. Ouch.

The article was a bit vague about it, but I think this kid may have been planning to go on an LDS mission.

Seriously, I wish that kid the best and hope he fully recovers to go on to do everything he wants to do in life.

But I do wish the news could occassionally report a story about an LDS person without mentioning how the events of hte story will affect the person's religious duties (Sorry. I am jsut a bit pissy with the LDS lately over the threat to close my liquor store.)

Like I said, I wish that kid the best.

well it was reported on by KSL news (THE mormon news network of utah), what do you expect?

oh and your liquor store is closing. that's a done deal. like 3 weeks ago done.

bummer for the kid, guess the mormon kiddos are falling in the cottonwood creeks earlier this year, but seriously I hope he heals up!

ha wtf i searchbarred, looked second page, no idea. already posted but see this http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick...&FcstType=text and let me know if anyone has any interest, a bunch of things could be lining up for a pretty epic weekend down there. really stoked on this idea, obviously it could get some super sketch avy conditions if there's any significant base and there are a number of factors to consider, but i want to make it happen.

also i believe this http://www.wcc.nrcs.usda.gov/nwcc/sn...ays=7&state=ut would be the most pertinent info to current conditions and what base would look like

Exactly. The lead story on their website earlier today was about a temple in another state that is going to be open for tours for awhile after completing some renovations. After the Japan quake, one of the first stories they ran was headlined "All LDS Missionaries in Japan Accounted For". That's half the fun of reading KSL.

Winter is back and so is the Utah Avalanche Center, at least for the weekend. Morning advisories will be posted on the website and phone lines and emailed out to those on the distribution list.

UDOT will be conducting avalanche control work tomorrow in Little Cottonwood Canyon (4/9/11).
Please stay clear of all North side slide paths until after 0830.
    Thanks.

Observed some all up in yo face over the shoulder blower on the mower and NE shots off Kes. yesterday. Bonding of new snow/ old intially pretty good but instabilities increased during the day and in upper wind affacted ridgelines with sluffs on steeper terrain running far and entrailing a lot of snow. The sun peaked out a few times and greenhousing set up lower elevation snow.
Some interesting chunder golbins on lower eastern aspect gullies in cardiff.

I for one would like to thank Backcountry.com for donating the money necessary for the UAC to continue operating for the next few weeks as we push toward 700 inches. I start every day by waking up and listening to the forecast and april 1st is just to early around here to stop issuing forecasts. living up to their name and already great reputation. Thank you Backcountry.com.
