re: The Wolvie slide: Even I knew it was going to slide while I was drinking beer in a park under a bridge in Seattle in the rain.

    Snake Creek on Thursday

Some little critter stomped that drop!

Whoever made this, nice $$$$$$$$ We followed that skinner and when we got within 50 ft of the ridge.....

Whumpf! Felt the slope collapse and saw it had fractured about 600 ft wide on facets below the rain crust

Some brahs from Brighton walked by a few minutes later and we warned them about what just happened. They didn't seem to care one bit. In fact one of them (sounded like he was from the South) said it was just the sun warming the slope up and they proceeded to drop a steep chute nearby

wolvy laps on fresh boiler plate and fresh slab seem like a great idea! the more extreme the line the better the outcome.

at least everyone made it out with all their limbs!

Found Headphones at 7-11 BCC Sunday Morning

Found a set of earbuds Sunday morning (Jan 23). 2nd gas pump from the road, 7-11 at the mouth of BCC. Probably lost between 9:00-9:30.

My guess is that they may have fallen out of a jacket or passenger-side door.

If they are yours, describe em and I'll find a way to get them to you.

massive slide on east castle, looked like it may have stepped down too as there was a crown at the top (to maybe the rain crust), and then another deeper crown about halfway down. its probably 600 feet wide

most likely from control work but hey....

    Fuck Warner Bros.

Here's the silent vid from today.. Bluebird EPICness bests describes today's conditions, but seriously the East faces that we rode rode superb with no funki-ness whatsoever noted. West facing ridges were bulletproof and quite slick, careful on those skins.

The picture of the skinner was the only place that was a bit sketch...

He didn't want his mom knowing uncle griz was makin him ski the double black expert stuff
Personally I'd a been on the phone to mom but I need the bonus gnarpoints.
Was gonna head up yesterday and stomp on wind loaded cornices sitting on rain crusts over large repeatable slide paths, I'm no cagey avyy expert, but I'm pretty sure I know what that's gonna do
So we headed up with birthday boy Powder Pondo, who mangeaged to find
a wind slab while skinning Sat and go for a short ride in white pine, damn kids I missed this cause i was hanging out in the Greens basin gnar with the wife. Which skied great 4wiw.
Headed over to maybird for a nice shot pretty variable much better towards e facing aspect. N facing red&white pine tree shots variable but pleasent.
Observed no instablites and obserserved this fine wasatch wiggle go down cross canyon on tanners

Went and joined the crowds skiing the meadow chutes gnar. Talked to a few parties that got some whoomping on a SE aspect. Didn't see any excitement other then great snow and skiing. The SE aspects were definitely baking so we stuck to the NE aspects..

NE and S facing at 10k on the BCC/Millcreek ridgeline skied unbelievably well on Sat.
    I approve of UT's take on dust-on-crust.

No instabilities noted, crust barely noticeable under about 10" of dense surfy pow. It's another story down lower and on scoured stuff.

The LCC "alpine" skied dangerously like water ice on Sunday. Makes for great pictures of the glaze but that's about it. Practice your self-arrest techniques...

It's supposed to get quite warm toward the end of the week, hopefully that will soften up the crust/ice layer where it's exposed so that it can get broken up a bit, at least in bounds. I would think this would improve the odds of future snow bonding to it. Perhaps it will even melt/break down in the backcountry too.

    Hogum. Is. HORRENDOUS!

Not sure how I got talked into going to Hogum today. Morbid curiousity I suppose. Stay out of there unless you are from the East coast.

On a side note, the day got much better when I arrived home and found my Intuition liners arrived in the mail. The days of swimming in marshmallow soft BD liners are over!

A couple days last week after the rain.

Headed up Broads area yesterday. Variable conditions exist up high, but nice day out regardless.

UDOT plans on closing the Little Cottonwood Canyon road @ 0645 on Thursday the 27th. We will be test firing artillery in the mid-canyon from Maybird to above Snowbird Entry 1.
Stay clear the North side of the canyon from Maybird to Monte Cristo until 0800.
Estimated road opening at 0800 tomorrow.
    Thanks
