Are you talking about their contract with UDOT?

That slide appears to have ripped down quite a ways. When we were there earlier in the month there were no rocks in that bowl.

in LCC, udot, alta and snowbird use the wpg ship as a way to deliver explosives to hard to reach slopes.

Went up Broads to Twin. Tons of big slides in Broads from various glide cracks. Bonkers pretty much ran full track except for the top 300ft due to a monster glider. Another big slide just below Sunrise Peak on north aspect. Most slides were gliders on east aspects that we saw today. No instabilities in our tour today on the SW face of Twin and then a steep north facing couloir.

    Hey,

Can anyone give me any info on what the drive up to powder mountain is like, especially what it will be like tomorrow morning?

Does the canyon there ever close like LCC?

Sorry for the question, but I searched forum and although I am sure this has been discussed before, I could not find any info on it.

No time to rest when the days are short..........plus, resting just delays the inevitable future suffering, so why not just get on with it?

    Wink

    Guys,
I have been a frequent reader of TGR. I have been skiing in Utah for over 30 years. I have taken a few Avalanche courses from Black Diamond and the American Institute. I have toured a bit in the back country and want to do more. I am looking for a group of guys that I can hook up with for dawn patrols and other tours. I am a very good skiier both AT and Tele. Just sick of the resort prices and the pow tracking out in 2 hours. Can you tell me the best way to hook up with some BC Maggots? I live in Draper.

    Hey,

Can someone mark on google maps for me the exact location of the Powder Mountain Shuttle in Eden as is explained on this site:

    http://www.powdermountain.com/en/get...uttle-service/

Unless I am being completely blind, I don't see a good map link, only the vague map that is drawn on their site.

    Thanks

Dude, just go. You will drive right into it.
And not the right thread for questions like this, notice all the BC conditions posted and not resort stuff?

Heavy wind loading south to north

Exactly opposite what I usually see on this side.

Stick to the trees and it is fantastic!!

UDOT plans on conducting artillery avalanche control in Little Cottonwood Canyon Today, the 29th of December. The road will be closed at 2:30pm. The plan is to start shooting at 4:15, should be done by 4:45pm; Road opening shortly after. Please stay clear of the North side of the canyon from Maybird to Hellgate until after 5:00pm.
Latest model run shows the cold front arriving in the canyons at about 3:00pm. > 4 hours of good accumulation, then maybe the lake band will kick in and continue to pound.
I will check in later to give you a heads up on tonight’s/ tomorrow’s plans.
    Thanks, B.D.

Sorry didn't check in sooner, long day yesterday. Good results mid-canyon from last night's LCC shoot.
Boy's in Provo Canyon have their hands full. Working on the road up to Sundance.
Using the guns this morning in LCC, looking for a 9:00 canyon opening.
    BCC open.

We're all done with highway related control work in LCC. Sensors showed 2 class 2's in the White Pine Chutes. Not sure above Snowbird or the Alta due to lack of vis.
At this time there are no plans for avalanche control work above the highway in BCC (190).
    Thanks.

I don't get it. Why put in all that effort to ski mediocre snow when you can just go to the pen for guaranteed powder???? I mean, I bet the skinners were totally IN all the way up Flagstaff, Grizzly, and Mill D North.

Damn I wish I could have joined you guys. What a creative, inspiring tour.

I'd rather go skate on my nordic homo stix than ski that terrain. For me now, it's either ski something new or interesting, or usually just go nordic skiing. Kinda over skiing the same ol' shit year after year.

In my three times back there to the SW face, I've never seen a track anywhere. Even with internet spray, it will still stay untracked for years and years to come.

yea TOTALLY joking with that comment. That's just the vibe I get from some people when I suggest going somewhere new and interesting instead of the old standbys. It's funny to hear people bitch and moan about crowds/helicopters in the pen but at the same time they aren't willing to do the longer approach or risk skiing anything but powder to have a better experience. Thus the pen remains packed and the other 90% of the Wasatch (including most of the best terrain) is vacant.

^^^^Next thursday, let's get out of the sheep pen gates and go ski something in the south, or WAY out in the west desert. A certain peak with 5,000 vertical of relief over the Salt Flats.

    Happy New Year

No critters in this part of the pen today... I wanna ski 5000' down to the Salt Flats!

The last day of '10 skied about like this... And the last sunset looked about like this, through the clouds...

Honestly, it's probably still too early in the season.
