I've lived in Utah 18 years now and I've never heard this much hype for an upcoming storm. My kids are getting out of school early, the news is suggesting that employers let their employees go home early and yesterday at work dispatch opened the mike at all stations to give a weather warning. I know we've had high winds and low temps before, what makes this one special?
all my afternoon meetings were canceled and they're letting us off work early to get home and hunker down for this "mother of all winter storms" and say goodbye to our families and prepare our wills.
One local tv news guy referred to it as 'life threatening conditions'. We live in the mountains and supposed to welcome this type of weather with open arms.
The hype is beyond annoying.
Using it as an excuse to get my nice truck off the roads by 4 before things freeze and the wonderful drivers here crash into me.
It is WHIPPING here at Point of the Mountain. Went out to truck to get my lunch and had to walk pointing into the wind.
I think the wind is what they are most worried about since it will blow the snow all over the road and then super temp drop. Ice road truckers then begins.....
If they grew up in Wyoming this would be a normal winter day, not a "life threatening storm"
Samuel L. Jackson as Jules Winnfield: Oh, I'm sorry. Did I break your concentration?
Wow, didn't realize it was gonna be that crazy. I am driving in Wednesday night - hopefully the roads will be clear by then......
I hate you guys and your wintery goodness. Better be some good photos when this one's all said and done.
TRs, photos, videos, and building skis (2 pairs so far...):

Pics or it didn't happen.
Johnny's only sin was dispair
Well all the Mormans already have their emergency supplies so that only leaves the new EC/snowhound immigrants to be at the grocery store anyways.
I am a school teacher. this is perfect excuse to get the kids out the door and start the long weekend ealier. I think if this was hitting us yesterday or last thursday there would not be any of the hype. Just an excuse to get on w/ Thanksgiving sooner.
It's gonna be BALLS deep!!
He who shall so shall he who.
Already is. Or would be if she was a he.
Is it the appropriate time for Jaws music yet? I think I heard them looping the theme on the local news.
Didn't see any avalanches today, but it sounds like 1945 Dresden up here in PC this afternoon so the avy control work must be producing some results.
Oh shit, I made it home just in time apparently, I just looked outside right into the eyes of SATAN!!!
Just got 3 urgent spam emails from KSL pointing to their Storm Coverage Web Page: http://www.ksl.com/?sid=13386283&nid=165
They are calling it "The Blizzard of 2010".
What if there's a bigger blizzard in December?
Sunday and Monday was skiing pretty deep... Spent all day both days witnessing the weather in the Silver Fork area. On Sunday a skier ski cut a 40 degree slope and it broke 30 feet above him propagating 40 feet wide 10 inches deep and went about 200 feet. On Monday we saw a decent sized natural under the cornices on the North facing ridges of West Bowl, nothing was active as we skied all day on the East faces of WB. Here's a coupla shots of Zach proving that yesterday was indeed "blower".
there were bigger storms in may and april last year. its called HYPE! holy shit, you people are fiendsall this weather talk is funny. be careful out there folks, i thinks there are some isolated triggers out there with BIG consequences, don't believe the hype and blow your load before the time is right.
