Use this equation to rate yourself

In honor of Spicoli, who made something like this a few years back.
Find out just how badass you really are using this simple formula, approved by the creators of the Ski Magazine Buyer's Guide 'Find Your SKIll level' (or whatever the hell that was).

    Simply take:
(number of years skiing+avg. of days skied per year for any five year period)*(1+max. number of rotations you can make)*percentage, in decimal form, you stick said rotations+your biggest drop in feet [subtract ten if you didn't ski cleanly away]

Multiply the above by the number of inverts you can pull plus one, add the maximum length of rail you've ever slid in feet (happy, Jay?), then multiply by the sum of the steepest thing you've ever skied (avg. steepness in degrees) and the vertical drop of that thing (in feet).

    Then, either:
Take the number and multiply by 100/your best USSA points (or .75 your best FIS points) in any discipline (except ballet), if you've ever had such points.
    or
take the number and do one of the following with your best competition result:
multiply by 20/your result for a national, pro-level competition (X Games, for example)
multiply by 10/your result for a regional, pro-level competition (invitationals or opens that attract sponsored athletes)
multiply by 3/your result a local mountain competition (weekly race series at your home mountain, for example)

You can apply whatever combination of the above (but only choosing one where there are options) yields the highest score.

    What a waste of time.
Now someone plug their numbers in and tell me what you get.

No, add one! Add one! Use the formula.

Gin, did you really get 47? I knew you were a sick skier, but man, you're better than I thought!

    I think I got something over 5,000,000. I need a calculator.

This thing might be slightly inaccurate.

Re: Use this equation to rate yourself

    OK, example:
I'm quoting myself to keep track of this idiocy.

(number of years skiing+avg. of days skied per year for any five year period)*(1+max. number of rotations you can make)*percentage, in decimal form, you stick said rotations+your biggest drop in feet [subtract ten if you didn't ski cleanly away]

(20 years+50 day average)(1+1 rotation)(90% stuck which is .9)+25 foot drop=151, if the math I did in my head is correct

    then

    151*(1+1 invert)+10 feet of rail*(50 degrees steep+800 feet)=265200, I think

    then

265200*(3/2 for having placed second in a local comp)=397800

This formula definitely needs some 'refinement'.

    *UHHHHHH...Brain cramping*
I'm sure my knee/hip angulation and hand position figures would through me so far off the SKI Mag rad profile that I would be destined to give up skiing entirely and as a result would have to turn to a life of crime and drug abuse. Many returns to the Betty Ford Clinic would consume the rest of my life. People wearing neon and silver Bogners would spit on me and refer to me as "special" *snif* I'm a loser *snif*

    Simply take:
(number of years skiing30 +avg. of days skied per year for any five year period)40 *(1+max. number of rotations you can make)1*percentage, in decimal form, you stick said rotations0+your biggest drop in feet [subtract ten if you didn't ski cleanly away] 15

    30+40*1*0+15=15

Multiply the above by the number of inverts you can pull plus one1, add the maximum length of rail 0you've ever slid in feet (happy, Jay?), then multiply by the sum of the steepest thing you've ever skied (avg. steepness in degrees)50 and the vertical drop of that thing (in feet). 500

    15*(1+0*50+500)=8250
    Then, either:
Take the number and multiply by 100/your best USSA points (or .75 your best FIS points) in any discipline (except ballet), if you've ever had such points. 100/0
    or
take the number and do one of the following with your best competition result:

multiply by 10/your result for a regional, pro-level competition (invitationals or opens that attract sponsored athletes) 10/0
multiply by 3/your result a local mountain competition (weekly race series at your home mountain, for example) 3/0
    8250*3/0=#DIV0!

Well, that's another problem. We need some other thing for people who haven't competed--what can we do?
Let's say you're allowed to compare yourself to someone you know who has competed, and estimate a performance percentage against that person--so if you've skied with bumpskierX, and he placed tenth in a regional, and you consider yourself to have 80% of bumpskierX's mad skills, then calculate the points that he would get from that part of the equation (what's added in the last step) and add 80% to your own score.

    This gets worser and worser.
