Thumbs up I got fired today

    Ha, just kidding.

I did my first practice burn with the department today. Only 6 more weeks and I'll be able to this for real. Love it. Can't wait for the 4 days on 4 day off schedule. I'm the newbie with the tan and pink gear.

Very observant you are . They went easy on us and had us leave old Rescue Randy there to chill and think about what he had done. Never play with matches, that'll teach em.

Not bad. I'm seriously thinking about picking up an EMT-P certificate between now and next winter so I can somewhat easily find a decent paying job in SLC. Working full time 2 days a week doesn't sound bad to me.

    Nice!
Just a note: If ever you rescue me from a burning building, please know you have my eternal thanks. However......upon exit, please do not drop me on top of the stairs & bounce my head off the railing, eh? That shit hurts.

edit: BobMc beat me. Next time I'll read ahead.

Will you get your paramedic certification as well?

    Kickin man!

I had an interview for an ambulance job today. Grilled by a P, I, and B... and they made me take a written test. I hope I get that job. Pay is shit but I still want it.

    Thumbs up

Right on, man! It's gotta be the best job in the world. I start my new department bright and early tommorow morning, i'm taking in doughnuts and fresh coffee and hoping they're not too hard on me.

And blizzard73637982, if by "somewhat easily find a job", you mean take about 4 tests with 2500 people for 10 or less spots, then you got it right. FYI, the next scheduled test for SLC is May 2006.

i was takin out the garbage tonight, and as i'm throwin my trash into the dumpster i smelled gas...strong enough to start giving me a headache. it wasn't coming from the dumpster (which was empty), but from beyond it...there's a few houses and whatnot over there.

so i'm like...well...if it's strong enough to give me a headache from at least 25 ft. away outside, i'm thinkin that's quite a gas leak..and..well..you know, maybe i should tell somebody, or something.

i call the police, who direct me to call 911, who calls the whole frickin fire department out there. So they show up...and i go out there...and wouldn't you know it?

    Can't smell SHIT.

    i felt really bad...

It was probably just the neighbors returning from a night of a few too many Blatz and pickled eggs.

I imagine it happens all the time.

A few weeks ago, our sexy South African landscaper guy is over. I go outside to drool, I mean make sure things are going okay and what do you know - It reeks like natural gas. He smells it too.

I call the gas company and they send a guy out within 30 minutes. My Dad later told me, I could've just called the Fire Dept., which would've made it even more of a meat market in our backyard.

The gas guy is a bit crotchety since it's pouring rain, but proceeds with his examination of the house/yard. He doesn't find shit and makes me feel like a retard for calling - until we both spot the next door neighbor's BBQ. He brings his little wand thingy over and it goes nuts by the BBQ.

Apparently although the burner was off, and the tank was as well, there was a leak in the connections.

The scariest part was when I was on the phone with the gas company - I asked the lady if the technician would ring the doorbell to let me know he was here, she said, "No, he won't. If he rings the doorbell and your house is full of gas, the electrical charge might cause the house to explode."
