Its the same article in every magazine!

What happened to magazines doing DIFFERENT things than the other mags. Now I favor Powder and believe any story they do will outdo all the others but lets take a look at the most recent mags. Powder does an article on Hugo, Freeze does an article on Hugo. Powder does a story on Sage, so does Freeze and Freeskier.

I realize some skiers are just "hot" at the moment, but come on. All the articles are identical except for a different intro and ending. Are we running out of material? Has anyone else noticed this?

Powder and SKIING (...and TGR and Warren Miller...) also profiled Bulgaria in their first issues.

yeah I noticed this too. In addition to what's been mentioned, Powder also basically cut & pasted the Game of GNAR right from Gaffney's Squallywood book into their last issue. Already being an owner of Squallywood, I would have liked to see something more original in that space in the mag (not that the game of GNAR isn't original, buy ya know what I mean).

That's why I read SKI magazine. All they do over there is talk about the newest gazillion dollar fur coat and matching skis that you know are just for looks, but what the hell who doesn't mind looking good and pickin up some cougars in the bar when their skis haven't even touched anything but their roof rack. Fuck I love SKI they show me how to be a yuppie gaper and tell me which resort has the plushest beds rather than the best snow. I'm even starting to post over a gapic-ski now that Iknow their terminology...

    VIVA POWDER MAGAZINE

The rest need to be overthrown or just left alone.

I'm kinda thinking there might be an small niche to fill in the Ski mag business, and I'd love to see some maggots fill it. Maybe just a web zine of something at first with happenings of maggots some cool fiction stories, or non fiction ones about Punani's bed. I'm not saying we need a new mainstream mag, but maybe a smaller one filled wiht pictures, articles or up and coming skiers by skiers, and some creative writing that makes you bust a gut upon reading it. Oh yeah and I do know what happened to Freeze. I'm talking about a small underground mag here.

It’s like some unholy cabal is making the magazines write about the same thing… terrible.

Next month's Powder and Skiing are both doing stories on the Angry Whelk. Splat hasn't been posting because he's in Shinjuku as we speak.
