    Tahoe Shuttles????

I'll be at my sisters house over x-mas to new years. she doesn't have a truck or 4wd vehicle. Are there any bus trips out of the bay area to squaw or alpine? Would only go for a day trip, don't want to rent a car, that's if the weather is bad though.

you really don't HAVE to have a awd or 4wd vehicle. I have a volkswagen golf and get around just fine. I have to drive over mt rose on 431 4 days a week and I always get through.

True that. I have a Golf, live in the Bay and have ski 40-50 day year in Tahoe. If the road is open I get through.

i dont know of any either, but its a pretty easy drive and all interstate. most cars can make squaw/alpine.

sierra has a shuttle from sacremento, but dont think that'll be enough for you:

I know there are bus trips to squaw because I've had to teach bus groups as an instructor. Call squaw and ask them for the info.

There is some company that is running a bus from the Bay to Heavenly. Not sure what the website is, but there may be a link at the Heavenly site. I think it was a combined lift ticket and transportation thing.

there are lots of buses up there from sf

but like some others said, you may be happier with a car up there, and its an easy drive. If the weather's bad, you'll be going slow enough anyway.

with a car you can hit lots of places around the lake
