Blonde Redhead @ The Bluebird Wednesday night.

The show is $16. The band freaking rocks. The venue is tiny. In NY or SF you'd probably never see a band like this play such a small venue for peanuts. I live close. We can pregame at my house. The next day is turkey day so going big shouldn't pose a problem with anyone's work.

    Who's in?

thread hijack; MD9, the forecast is changing quick for turkey-day in Utah, you might consider making the drive over; all computer models are now suggesting a straight west to east zonal flow, with snow in the forecast for every day from Wednesday to Tuesday.

Saw them in Sac last Monday, I wasn't particularly impressed. Good technical music, but their vocal style kind of killed it for me.

Looking forward to Pinback on Monday though.

Your move to Colorado has clouded your mind. There are no friends on a powder day.

Tuffy normally I would agree with you, however please keep in mind the preceding " probably" somewhat dilutes the absoultism of "never".

J - I am still considering going to this show at the moment I am a definite maybe !

Tuffy… was “when they were good” when they had the hottie on bass? Believe it not, I once had a “conversation” with her about Assuck. Oh, she’s now in Enon, who, IMO, are pretty good.

tuffy, you've got to be great fun to converse with in person. Mind was made up. People can hypothesize. I remember seeing sigur ros in St. Louis at a completely empty house and then hearing how they'd sold out larger venues on the coasts for mulitple days. A lot of the middle part of the country makes for empty shows for bands of this nature. Makes for killer shows if they bother to stop.

And you need to make up your mind, you said the old stuff was a "sonic youth" copycat joke over in Music, but now the "old stuff" is cool? I can't wait for the day we're all as cool as you.

i love sonic youth, that's why i like blonde redhead.

and, we have spoken to each other about late 80s/early 90s flaming lips vs the flaming lips of now. you then dropped your drink and tried cleaning it up with an oven mitt.

i saw them when they were a 4 piece, then when they went to 3 and the drummer played keys and what not. they seemed to lose a bit of their "aggroness" when that happened.

i found an old no idea comp cd with assuck on it. they ruled.

I have the first two Blonde Redhead singles, which are pretty amazing in a semi-Sonic Youth kind of way, and signal recorded by Guy from Fugazi with Vern from Unwound playing bass, I think all of these are out of print. The 666 and I have been planning a vinyl to 1010101010 conversion night and I definitely will convert these gems to format that allow for easy online distribution… if peeps are interested.

if i can find the right "cord", i'd like to run from the mixer straight to the mac to record. otherwise, i gotta record the vinyl to cd, then burn the cd tracks to mp3. please tell me there's an easier way.
