Goldminer's Daughter Wifi makes working from Alta possible?

    Hey

Never having visited Utah (closest was JH 3 years ago) and really feeling the need to start to spend more time in the snow, I have just managed to convince my colleagues that I can work from Alta for 6 weeks later this season

I am planning on staying at GMD and working in the afternoons/evenings. I have read as much as I can around here and get the feeling that GMD is a pretty good spot to stay and eat.

Can anyone confirm how fast/stable the wireless is at GMD? Anyone used it? I don't need it for anything other than email.

    Ta,
    Rich

    Looks good.

when i lived there in 02-03 they were talking of putting in a wireless system that would be strongest in the bar. i don't know if it is up now, but they did a lot of renovation 2 summers ago. you should pm 13 to ask if it is finished. if it is up, i'd guess that is what he is using.

my friends that are living there now say that things have changed a bunch. the owners are now catering to both guests and employees. i'd say that it would be a great place to stay. i remember how bad things got in january after 4 weeks of no snow. emps were very edgy with managers and each other. all the ganja in the world couldn't help the stress there. this year will be much better from what i hear.

Thanks APD. They have told me that it only works in the bar, which is definitely not a bad thing if that is where I have to work

    .......

    Nope don't think so.

My fantastic Arno Adams ski poles www.pmgearusa.com from Splat arrived at her desk today, and she brought them over and said, "Ski Poles, are you going camping at Xmas?" WTF - it is generally 30 degrees celcius at Xmas time here.

At the moment, I'm logged in from the GMD lobby.

doofdoof -- you have a PM.

APD - everyone gets edgy when there's no snow for weeks on end. That's what PBR on tap is for.

ive done it many times. they also have wires in the corner by the door if the wireless isnt working - thats what i usually use. i can get "interlodged".. "miss my flight".. ski the next day, and not feel that guilty about skipping out on work.

The bar improvments are great and now having PBR on tap at Alta......Life doesn't get any better. (10-12 good beers on tap is amazing for around here; Trainer has a great selection this year).

I'm willing to bet most of the guests @ GMD are maggots and I don't even know it.

snorkeldeep -- no more LAN ports, we're full-on wireless now.

Aside from wondering why you'd need high-speed wi-fi if you "only need it for email," I'm wondering where the IP info says you're visiting from? I can just see your employer going through the company IP server stats:

    Hmmmmmmmm...

The wifi won't likely matter after a few hours ....
