    Well, just to be clear. No one was being clever. Far from it, actually. I was throwing the ball over my shoulder. It accidentally got stuck in the tree. It did teach me a thing about beacons but yeah, I wouldn't rely on it as a training technique.

    This is also a great idea.

    Based on my own experiences, to maximize the fun factor you'll have to do this in the dark, next to a busy highway, with lots of roofs and tree branches to toss the ball onto.

    Oh! And maybe a fast flowing river too!

    Drunk too. To maximize the confusion and increase chances of twisting an ankle or impaling yourself on deadfall.

    Wasn't about you personally, I've just seen it happen in classes before and the instructors thought they were hot shit for doing it.
