Any advice on cell phones in the Alta/Bird/LCC/Sandy Area?
Specifically, does anyone know how good T-mobile reception is in these areas?
Thanks!

boo....
leave the celly in the car man...
skiing and reality should not mix EVER in my book...
if you gotta meet someone pick a time and a place (chair, lodge, ect)....
i hate seeing people on their phones, especially WHILE SKIING!![]()

next time you get hurt in the backcountry and you could just make a simple call, but have to sufferfest out on a blown knee or broken bone, i'm sure you will be very happy about your decision to leave the phone in the car.Originally Posted by MOHSHSIHd

T mobile works in LCC.

in the backcountry ill bring it along, but for the most part cellies dont work in the BC anyway...
there is no need to call during an emergency while cruising groomers....i mean bring it along if you are gonna use it on the lift or while standing in a safe area....im just sick of one-pieces snow plowing hap-hazardly across runs on their cellphones.....just being dumb...
when did the guy say he was using his phone to cruise groomers???
get the fuck off your soapbox.
Talking while skiing would prob be a bad idea for reasons other than not looking cool...
Anyone else have experience with T-mobile?
Thanks!
here is their coverage area. i bet some other carriers provide better service.
T-mobile works well all over the mountain. (On all of the lifts anyway - seeing as how evidently I need to specify that I don't actually talk on the phone while skiing.)Originally Posted by NextLevel
I know Nextel, AT&T and Verizon also work well up there.

T-Mobile works pretty well at both Alta and Snowbird (they installed new sties at both areas within the last year). AT&T and Verizon also work well.

I'm glad to see you two agree.
How about Sprint?

Well, a 1.5 weeks ago I was talking on my cell (Sprint) to Altachic while skiing w/my daughter... literally. We were at the bottom of the mountain and the reception was great! It fades out fast the higher you go, though. I tried to call my wife from the top Tram Dock and barely had one bar.

That's my favorite outfit of yours. It suits you so well, since it's so slimming!Originally Posted by basom

don't bring your celly. bring a radio instead. if an emergency arises you still have a way to contact someone.
AT&T works great just about everywhere in big and little. I've made calls from just about every bc drainage when I was supposed to be "working from home". There are some places where it drops, mainly lower in the canyon.
I had AT&T (now Cingular) my last 4 years at the 'Bird. No reception problems at either Alta/Bird but, there is a short 'dead zone' for the first 3 miles or so when starting up LCC.Originally Posted by AltaPowderDaze
Almost an opposite effect for me- whereas AT&T was great in LCC, Verizon is much better in the Cascades so I might be switching this winter.
APD, Tippster, thanks...Originally Posted by AltaPowderDaze
I will probably bring a radio with me as well.
ATT/Cingular has full service all over snowbasin... they put in a few camo tree looking cell towers around the mountain before the olympics in 02... I know you're not asking about that but you might find yourself up north at some point.![]()

my verizon phone has a similar problem dropping around stick rock. sometimes it drops and sometimes i can make it through.
My Verizon on Sunday kicked ass at the Bird. Top, great, bottom on Gadzoom, great. Driving down canyon, pay attention anyway, cell reception not great. Get out of canyon and you are good.
Been with Verizon 5 years now, nothing else has worked better for the price for me, and I used to be in the business.
