My sister and I are rolling into town Sunday night and we're skiing Monday (bluebird baby!!!), Tuesday, and Wednesday. As usual, I'll be wearing the steezy/cheesy blue/silver full face. G4s or Spatulas depending on conditions.

We might see each other heading in opposite directions this evening when I head back from Mammoth. I've got some things to tend to at home on Monday. I should be able to make it back to Mammoth on Wednesday. Look for another big blue helmet. Will the Punani secret stash #53287 be skiable?

Sorry I feel obliged to give a shout out to my new spancer.
Many thanks are owed to Mark Lasseter, who runs that site and booked our whole trip down to South America. He went out of his way to accomodate us and make sure our trip went off without a hitch. From flights, to lodging, to a cat trip, to beta on where to ski. He also set us up with his friend Vince in Bariloche, uber guide and uber photographer as you can see. I really can't say enough. And yes, Mark rips too. He'll always get to book my trips there and to Whistler also. I'm waiting on some pics that need to be scanned, and then I'll finally post my SA trip report. It's long overdue.

Arty, congrats on the rockstar status.
Mammoth was pretty cold and empty today. Due to poor visability and wind the top never opened. There were also snow flurries all day long. There was a dusting on top of mostly harder crusty snow in most places. There were also a few places where the wind deposited more than a casual dusting of snow (the area we traversed to on opening day had some gullies that were filled in nicely.) I also scouted/test skied an area further to skiers left of the Punani secret stash #53287, I think it is #53286. It is worth a return trip the next powder day. If the top is open tomorrow, you should have a great time. Enjoy!

Recipe for Mammoth Creamy Ego Snow Originally Posted by Vets
Ingredients:
-1 mild snow storm
-Heavy wind
-Mix 2 parts heavy wind with 1 part mild snow storm. Mix combination well enough to impair visibility.
-Pour mixture down (or up) steep chutes and open bowls.
-Use extra amounts of mixture to fill in any gullies, or to build large wind lips and cornices.
-Allow to settle over night.
-Slice, dice and shred the following day, paying careful attention to hard-to-reach areas.
