NewsFlash: Crystal ROD Boundary Issue Resolved

This just hot off the grapevine: The USFS ROD for the Crystal Mountain Master Development plan is removing the boundary closure.

Sources deep inside the various, nefarious legal armatures of da gubbermint have conceded that they can't argue the case successfully.

Mount Rainier National Park may yet try to close the areas bordering he ski area, but that would be a costly and precedent setting move. Keep tuned in to see what those bozos try next.

Thanks to the USFS folks around here, Larry Donovan and Chris Hansen-Murray who listened to our reasoning and responded to a tough situation in an even handed and fair way.

Thanks to the work of many hard core sleuths, weirdo, lawyers and lovers of backcountry skiing who helped push this through.

    Once again, youse folks rool.

    That's good to hear.

On the subject of Crystal, apparently the Northback chair is supposed to go in next summer, so this will probably be the last season of the Northback as it is today. The new chair will be a fixed grip double, though, which seems like a smart move by them.

Add yourself to the Thank you list BH.

While I infrequently have the opportunity to enjoy Crystal I'm glad you brought up the proposed changes here. Thanks to you and everyone who took the time to go to the meetings and made the skier's voice heard.

I'll be lurking @ the AI 12/27-30. C'mon by to snort some elk in celebation, err, yeah...

addendum: I hope the MRNP admins don't go Stranglove and try to disbar skiing completely. The rumors have been circulating to this effect.
