For the life of me, I can't find a website representing Look.
I thought they were bought out by someone, but....
Thanks,

Shouldn't you be searching for the linken or G3 or Black Diamond site there tele-guy.
Can someone explain to me how Dynastar/Look/Lange are one company, but rossignol basically rebadges Look bindings, but competes w/ Dynastar for skis and Lange for boots? Is Rossi just licensing the tech, or do they own the whole conglomerate?
[/hijack]
i too would like the whole rossi/dynastar/look/lange question clarified.
"...And my quarter is ruined. My business lost about 200K in revenue.
On a positive note, I did save some money on car insurance by staying with GEICO..."
from what i understand...
lange is not owned by dynastar/look, they have a strategic partnership.
look leases the rights to rossi to put graphics on the toe pieces and the pivot heels, and rossi supplies the crappy low end heel pieces.
also, technica has a strategic partnership with k2/volkl, but k2 is trying to buy lange outright and ditch technica.
hope this helps/
Pretty sure that Rossignol is the parent company of them all, if not they own a stake of each
edit - here it is

Yeah, good damn question how Rossi fits in.
Yup, everyone on this site seems perplexed about my alpine questions because of my handle.
I'm a longtime alpine skier (almost 30 years) but tele most of the time. I'm looking for clamps for my spatulas which I intend to ski as they were designed at least at first.
I haven't paid any attention to alpine gear for the last several years -- so I went googling for Look bindings and honestly I didn't get to the site mentioned above.
Thanks,
TT
so if i am reading that right, rossi only owns sales rights to lange in switzerland, and otherwise, it is a stand alone company?
edit: i do know for sure k2 is strongly considering buying lange.
which would make sense, since K2 has also acquired the rights/molds to the kneissl/raichle flexon, as a Morrison pro-model boot. It wouldn't make sense for K2 to release only one model of boot...and since Dalbello built the Krypton Pro, they wouldn't be able to base their line off of the flexon...Originally Posted by marshalolson
it makes sense for K2 to get a legitimate lineup of boots going. Easier for them to Borg than to create themselves, I suppose.

k, so i've had a pair of rossi binders in my posession (scratch 140s) and i've noticed that there's a LOT of lateral travel in the heels. is this just the way rossi's are (going on what marshalolson said, i'm now kind of skeptical about their quality)? my looks (which i've been on for 3 seasons) are nowhere near as loose as these things, which i'm sending back to the guy i bought them from, incidentially, but i'm buying the same model binding from another guy, assuming they're in better shape.
so my question really boils down to this - look or rossi? sure they appear the same, but is the quality of one better the other?

I have no idea, but if they are different, it would be one of the stupidest, money wasting things I've ever heard. It makes no sense from a manufacturing standpoint. My bet is there is 0 difference.
my roommate had a similar issue of heel instability in some look p14's.
he was able to warranty it... no problem.
i think this is design related... just look at how much plastic is in there.
play is bound to develope if you ski hard enough!
i've mangled the metal plate that mounts to the ski (the track that the heelpeice slides on) on a look p14 resulting in excessive lateral play. it got warrantied.

I also had a heel track issue with some P10's. Somehow bent it and the heel piece would loose forward pressure and slide off the back of the track...not good. Got a new heel track from a maggot and I'm hoping it fixes the problem.

I'm such a nerd. I looked at the ownership diagram and all I could think is how it has to be a complete nightmare to come up with consolidated financial statements (circular ownership with minority interest makes it difficulterer). [/accountantnerdtalk]
One of the problems with the Look/Rossi turntable heel pieces is that they are mounted with a worm screw to a plate which in turn is drilled into the ski. This isn't super strong in all directions and can develop some play, where Salomons are usually directly drilled to the ski.
At least my P14's were...
