    Post Steamboat Opener: Who's Going?

    When: November 24th (Wednesday)
Cost: $15 and the proceeds go to charity.

If the opener is anything like last year's it's gonna be real nice
It probably won't since they have been getting somewhat skunked by all the storms rolling through, but there's unsettled weather coming through for the next 5-7 days.
The 'boat got 87" last November, so the sky is bound to drop some soon.

    Who's planning on going?

My wife's friend was in town last night from the boat. Her report on the snow is that is a far cry from last year at the moment. She was not sure what they will be able to open at this point. Anyone else been up that way to confirm this?

Last year's opener was awesome at the 'boat!

I like how they waited until they have a quality product to open instead of blowing down a ribbon of death like front range resorts love to do.

It'll be game time decision for me, if it dumps I may head up. That mountain is fun, but the exposure isn't so good.

iskibc, it's not looking too good right now but i realize that could change in a hurry. if it doesn't snow a bunch i wouldn't waste too much time on the 'boat.

I think most of us are on this page. However, there seems to be a pretty big contingent of mountain town businessman that want ski mountains to open as early as possible. CO resorts are especially guilty of this practice. I guess it boils down to a quality/quantity question.

I guess if I ran a rental ski shop I wouldn't give a shit what people skied on either.

    bastards,

I expect pics, whatever the snow is like

So wishing I could make it out to the boat this year
For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was

You're exactly right. Why would anyone want to go to steamboat. The snow sucks, it's flat, boring terrain, etc.:
