So quick question regarding the raven. Noticed on 4frnt site that it says 30m sidecut radius for the 190 length, and 23/30 for the 184. So the sidecut in 190 is single radius ?

This thread is likely the most epic quasi-singular subject thread of any forum I've been part of or witnessed. So much so, I had to join up to TGR.

For the record - just picked up some brand-spankin' Rens and Hojis for this upcoming season. Stoked is an understatement.

Long time (like, LONG time...!!) 4Frnt fan - since 2003/2004. THANKS MATT!!!

I am currently selling brand new 196cm Rens at a decent price at $360 + shipping at http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...-Climbing-Gear

Kind of surprised no one is interested at that price. Maybe I should increase the price to shock people into paying attention...

My bet is it's the scary 196 size. It's a good deal. I've been in the thread and seen you doing price drops. It's a burly ski and at 196 very few mortals can handle. Even at 6'3" and 195lbs along with being a pretty strong skier that size kinda even scares me. At my age they might make it til lunch til I had to go switch to something a bit more forgiving.

Just received my new 2017 Renegades in 196. Finally decided my 2012 196 Owls were about done after 200+ days. Bought the Owls originally after reading this thread.

Really keen to get them on snow, I think the changes should be great for me. Little bit more tail splay, slightly softer overall, but noticeably softer in the tip. Definitely lighter, but don't have a scale to compare actual numbers.

If anyone wants any comparison photos let me know.

Why would we not??? You say more tail splay? I'd say rocker profile pics are a must.

Just some crap iphone pics for now. Might try and get some better ones later.
My old rens have definitely gained some rocker over time. The flat spot under foot is very short, whereas the newer model seems to
be longer. My guess is these wont really change due to the more standard construction.

Those pics are rad, thank you!

    Is your Owl tail delamming?

Happy to give back to the thread!
Yeah the tails are delamming just a bit. Mixture of the original construction and me being a hack, climbing on rocks, tails in the snow, banging snow off, resting on concrete etc.
The new ones have a really interesting tail piece that is thinner than the rest of the ski, maybe the last 15mm. Cant really see it in those photos, I forgot about it earlier when taking the pics. Maybe its to be notched for skins? Either way looks to protect the rest of the ski from doing what the old one did.
Regarding the comments further up about the 196 being too scary, I'd say if you have decent snow and terrain then they really are not too burly even for lighter guys.

Mounting? Any ideas as to preference for centre point position with the clamps??

Just need it to cool down in Whistler so you can put those bad boys to use. I've been staring at my new 2015/16 Renegades and itching to use em.

Old pair 92 and 92.3 from tail.
Just mounted new pair this morning at 92

At my weight, I don't need to go back for more float on such a big ski, so why not have it pivot as easily as possible.

Yeah. Mount it at recommended, ski it over the center, not over the tips, profit.

Really interested to hear how the 2017s ski compared to the owls. I love the owls. Only have an issue with tip dive until I get dialed again on them. Weird I know especially given I'm 5'9" 175 on the 296s.

    Awesomeness....

And just a reminder for mounting (having spoken direct with 4FRNT the other day), the "from tail to middle mount point", FOLLOW the curvature of the ski from its base to the intended (in this case 92cm) centre line. It's NOT a straight pull measurement from tail tip to deck top. The additional distance made up with the rocker/curvature is necessary when determining this seemingly elusive "centre mount point".

PS: 6cm back for both the Hoji and Renes 195s and 196s respectively.
