I just ate about 40 oysters

A nice post-kayak-in-Drake's Estero meal. They varied between raw and overdone (hey, we were busy eating them and couldn't take care of all of them at once) over a nice fire. I don't know if I should put a because it kicked ass at the time, or a because my stomach is currently doing some fun gymnastics.

Make sure to drink lots of Vodka with that kinda meal - maybe you'll kill a few stray bacteria + being drunk takes your mind off the quesy stomach!

shuck - suck it - eat me raw?
    I think I'm going mad.

we put in at Johnson's so we just grabbed them from there. Our friends live up on top of the hill behind Inverness so we went up there to enjoy the wine, cheese, fire, and wonderful view. They also had some sort of "book for oysters" deal (they wrote a Pt. Reyes book) so these suckers ended up being pretty much free! Lucky us...I think. Gurgle gurgle.
Drake's Estero was super pretty today, but there weren't many seals or birds around to gawk at.

Kumamotos are the shit. Had some of those once at the Hog Island bar in the SF Ferry building. I like oysters and all but I don't think I could eat 40. Other good oyster eats are the Oysters 444 at El Toro Bravo here in Truckee (all sorts of melty cheese, butter, and even chorizo in there) and the Oyster Poor Boy that the Tioga Gas Mart used to make (bastards discontinued it).

That kind of kayaking is so relaxing even if it makes your shoulders sore as hell. All the silence and nature is calming. Me and DG went on the Russian River just to the north a couple of weeks ago. Sliding up on cranes, slipping through narrow channels, hanging out under bridges, it was all good.

    yeah, what he said.

Actually I made it through the night relatively intact. There were a few moments that were touch-and-go but as others had already stated, I had other things on my mind to keep me occupied. However, it's hard to go out and be smooove when you might puke/shit your pants at any moment!

    Hamma Hamma Oysters

The Hamma Hamma Oysters in Washington are really good. They get washed with glacier water off the Olympic Mountains at the mouth of The Hamma Hamma River outlet in Hood Canal. Winter is the best time to get them, washed down with a little Pinot Grigio, nice! They are slightly salty with a clean refreshing after taste . They are best raw. Not cooked. If you top them with the Salmon Caviar from the fresh seafood shops on Hood Canal, you'll be in heaven.

White wine works, but even better is a cold dry martini, lemon twist, made with good gin. Like Tanquery 10 or Plymouth's.
