Twoplanker, Stoysluttie1, and I had an incredible day in the Uintas. Drove up to Hayden Peak on snowcovered roads in Stoys Civic. Parked the car and rallied to the summit of Hayden.
Dropped the skis for the last bit to the summit because it wasn't skiable. Then skied a long, steep, couloir back to the treeline. As usual, conditions were quite variable. Wind buff on top of a crust layer made for ungraceful, ugly survival turns. But who cares, it was fun as hell.
Not a bit of wind, never heard or saw anyone but some coyote tracks. Once in a lifetime November day in the beautiful Uintas. This place is rapidly becoming my favorite place in Utah.

damn, our skiing looks even better than it felt! I'll have some pics up tomorrow evening. Still grinning from ear to ear.

Definately survival turns here. A fall would have been disaster. Fortunately I didn't eat it until I was clear of the last tight spot.

Sweet viddy Trackhead. Your flow just keeps getting better and better. I loved all the climbing/skinning footy as well as the leak shot. The ground’s eye view at the end ruled as well. I may have to borrow that one.
Thanks for the stoke and more motivation to keep shooting and editing viddy of my own.

Nice one fellas, you're killin me! Looks like you were just around the corner from the one couloir we climbed last winter--the 'Mountaineering Couloir'. Same exact view from Hayden, looks sick, can't believe it's that good in Nov.
I was hoping to get out there while it was still car/truck accessible but probably not gonna happen after this weekend sounds like. I'll just have to rely on other people's sleds from now on Trackhead <ahem!>
Anyway I got my extremo mountain gear in the mail today: axe and crampons, + now have AT boots with Vibram soles all to at least somewhat lessen the pucker factor in places like that
